In addition to the great food we have at the MeatUps, on some of these I’ll do a little song and dance routine which everyone seems to really enjoy! CaptainMike taught me this one at the first MeatUp in Rockdale. Here’s a little video of me at the last one we held in San Marcos.

Carolyn It seems he’s only visiting small mom and pop restaurants in New Orleans, with most of them being ethnic places. Examples…..Honduran, Jamaican etc. A soul food place, fried chicken and even a BBQ joint were visited. Who goes to New Orleans for BBQ?! He hated it by the way… He did like a few of the places in his videos…..but he’s not even trying the food and or restaurants New Orleans is famous for….🙄

I watched a bunch of his vids, and it seems like his schtick is finding crappy restaurants to eat at. One he visited in Baton Rouge is a new place, and I am not sure why anybody who has lived in the area for any length of time would recommend it. The restaurants in general have gone downhill, but there are a few spots that are established and still good. I can see not finding something good in BR, but not in NoLa. 🦪 🍤 🐟 🥟🍳

STUNNING NEW DEVELOPMENTS IN CAJUN COUNTRY CAPER! 😳
There’s been a lot of interest among our group of doing the swamp tour again. We had a great time before, and since there will be several new people this time around, I’ve gone ahead and booked us a tour. I was even able to book us with the same tour guide we had last time, Cal. He was extremely knowledgeable about the area and was able to answer any question we threw at him…..with a seriously thick Cajun accent. Here’s the deal…..
WHEN: Saturday October 25 at 2 pm
This should give us plenty of time to have lunch and make it to the tour afterwards. We’ll need to be there 15 minutes before our tour starts…..to pay, use the restroom or grab snacks/water etc. There is a bar on site also if you’d like a cocktail or beer before heading out. I’ve booked us an airboat like we had last time.
The tour lasts about 90 minutes, so we should be back on shore around 3:30.
PRICE: The tour is $65. per person, $60. for active duty or retired/ex military. At the end of our last tour we found out that tips for the guide are appreciated, but not required.
As usual on our MeatUps, feel free to do other things if you’d like, no one will bat an eye if this isn’t your thing. Each airboat will hold up to 12 passengers, so I need to get a head count for everyone who wants to go. If you don’t mind, could you please let me know…..YES or NO, if you’d like to take the tour. Also please let me know HOW MANY in your party will be doing the tour. If needed we can book seats on another boat for any overflow above 12 people.
Here’s a link to the tour company we’ll be using. Thanks guys and gals, we gonna have some fun fo sho!
I’ll be going on the tour, can’t wait!

A couple questions. I could send by pm, but maybe someone else wonders? I have a balance problem, not enough to use cane but enough that I keep one in my car. Hard time stepping up and down, esp without a handrail/hold. Is this something I could do, without too much risk of falling and being eaten by alligator?

FOR ANYONE THAT’S FLYING INTO LAFAYETTE FOR THE MEATUP OR DRIVING IN FROM OUTSIDE OF TEXAS
1. If flying in, can you please let us know if you’re going to have a rental car for the weekend after you arrive?
2. If you're flying in to Lafayette and will Uber to the hotel, please let us know.
3. If you live outside Texas and will be driving in, please let us know.
So far we have 4 Texas members, including myself, who will have their personal cars for use in Lafayette. I’m asking this just to make sure we have enough cars to drive others around for the weekend. I’m assuming anyone who Ubers to the hotel from the airport will be riding around for the weekend with someone with a vehicle. I’m pretty sure we’ll be ok, but I just want to make sure……Thanks guys!

22" Weber Kettle w/SNS, 18" WSM, Bronco, Grilla Chimp, Traeger Tailgater, UDS, Camp Chef Tahoe Stove.
Huge news. Stupendous. Outrageous even. Stop the presses. Shoot off the fireworks. Due to some pretty big life changes - mainly, the wedding is off - i have suddenly become available. John, as soon as Halle found out, she told me she is dumping you. Just made my reservations, I'll be driving in in my little Kia. Thursday - Sunday.
Hide the women, send the kids to bed, break out the bourbon. I know we won't be in NO, but let the good times roll!!!

Only one more month till the MeatUp, getting close! Anyone else out there thinking about going? Also, I’d like to tell the swamp tour company how many seats we’ll need, hopefully in the next few days, Monday at the latest. So far we’ve got 8 people including myself who have confirmed they’re going. I haven’t heard from a few folks yet about whether they want to go or not. Purc Alan Brice Uncle Bob SheilaAnn When you can, please let me know and how many people will be in your party, if going…..thanks!

I'm sure I've already said I'm on the swamp tour. Re: the earlier post about arrivals when/how. I will be driving, gray Audi SUV with Fla sea turtle plates. By Google Maps, it looks like 11ish hours, but not sure if that is with time change or not. I used to drive to Pensacola often, seven hours or so. I'm going to leave whenever I get moving Wed, stop when I feel like it, and likely get to Lafayette by mid-day. I can likely do airport pick ups later in the afternoon, or ferry people to grocery stores/liquor stores, etc, if needed. Once I stop Wed, and get going Thurs, I'll be able to pinpoint arrival more accurately.

SheilaAnn I'm sure I will be in Lafayette by then, and am planning to have already checked in. I can plan on picking you up, and anyone else, at the airport. I think you may already have my text #, but I'll pm it to be sure. Panhead John, I think you also have my text, but let me send to you in PM also. I can touch base earlier in the day about ETA.
