The hotel sure didn’t skimp on the gas grill, it’s a Viking! Tom generously brought plenty of Kielbasa sausage for everyone and several different variety’s of cheese. Not sure who, but someone else supplied some different kinds of crackers for the cheese.

After your heroics yesterday you deserve a drink (even if it’s a Coors light).

        Not all heroes wear capes.

Looks fantastic. Certainly ate, drank and had a great gathering. But did anyone remember to bail out Panhead John before you left?

Just like to drop in a few comments about the less apparent aspects of these little Texas get togethers. The food and restaurant elements have been covered in nice detail with descriptions and artful pictures. And while our primary "hook" is our common membership in this site and the food focused approaches to our culinary enjoyments, there's much more that gets shared around those tables at the restaurants, and then, even more so, around the group gatherings at the motel.

It's at these chat sessions where we learn about the back stories of those we've met here in a virtual sense. We learn about their families, the trials and tribulations as well as the celebratory events that make up a complete life. We end up finding folks who have other common interests to our own that we may not have ever known had we not gotten together in person. For some it's a military history, others an interest in aviation, common schools of either the members or their children. The list is long and interesting. And the partners are not left out at all as some might wonder. I'm pretty sure we set a record high this trip of women accompanying their husbands, and from what I observed none of them had a dull moment.............they were right in there adding to the conversations and enjoyment. It makes me very happy to see this event keep growing in size and, more importantly, interest. This really is one of those "the more the merrier" kind of things.

Well we are home safe and it is time to say thank you to say thank you to Panhead John for another well planned and executed Meat Up. You may have outdone yourself this time especially taking a fall and banging your shin for the team. I’m not sure of everyone who helped, but I want to say thank you and especially to Tom Mosca for helping secure the stuff in the wonderful gift bag. I can’t wait to start using that Dizzy Pig rub.

I’m just honored that The Pope has nominated me for a Carnegie Medal for saving those nuns.

A couple more pics from Kruez. I had sausage, ham, pork ribs and potato salad. The ribs were pretty good, the sausage was good, the ham was ham and the potato salad was average.

I got a sausage from Smitty's to go (I think it might be in one of the pics from reheating it on the hotel grill) that was pretty good.

The star of the day was Terry Blacks. I got a couple slices of brisket and an original sausage to share. No pics again - I was falling down on the job. I got slices from the flat so they were a little dry, but the flavor matched the Burnt Bean IMO. And the sausage was far and away the best sausage. So much so that I plan on ordering some. I tried to order several years ago but covid got in the way. Tasting it confirmed that I need it in my life.
