Some of my shots are going to be duplicates, but I’m too buzzed to sort it out. I’m just going to dump them. Burnin’ beans.

We got there around 10:20 or so, and parked right out front on the street!

We were the second group in line. As LA Pork Butt says, you’re going to wait; it’s better to wait early.

We all picked some variety, so we could pick and share from each other, but there was also some consensus on certain sides, like the bacon ranch taters and the corn soufflé.

I got a 2 meat/2 side platter, and chose el cinco sausage and turkey, and the corn and taters.

Like Panhead John said, part of the experience here is how they welcome everyone.

Some places make you feel welcome… but the best places just go right out there and do it, they welcome you into their home and hearth. Burnt Bean is one of those places.

Earlier in this thread captainlee knowingly and intentionally tried to sully my reputation here in The Pit with false accusations of cowardly behavior. He blatantly accused me of trying to be first in line at Burnt Bean by running across the street to be first in line at opening time, thus causing my life threatening injuries. FAKE NEWS! As anyone there will attest, here’s what actually happened. Two nuns using walkers were trying to cross the street. After about halfway across the street, an out of control car suddenly appeared and was heading straight towards the nuns! I heroically jumped in front of the nuns and pushed them out of the way, thereby saving their lives! In the process I stumbled into the curb, fell down and sustained these life threatening injuries! Here’s the proof…

What do you believe about the Panhead John injury story? Is he a hero or did he just try to cover up the price he paid for trying simply to be first in line? Read the original post again, it said witnesses not a witness.

I’m so undecided right now on which story about the accident to believe.

1: After all we know John won a prize here and then immediately donated it to local firefighters. It was on TV that John single-handedly save his neighborhood from flooding caused by a giant water leak on his street and saved countless lives.
Jumping in to save two nuns from a runaway car does sound believable and in character.

2: However on the social media site XYZ people are saying it wasn’t an accident at all but that he was pushed in the path of the car by someone coveting his place in line for some BBQ. Additionally there is the article in a definitely not fake news newspaper talking about John receiving some sort of papal medal from the Vatican.

                Then there is your story.

Very hard to sort out the truth.

(John, here is the draft. If you approve I’ll post it in the morning.)

Donw I think there is a forgotten #3 version. #1 and #2 versions are just a cover up. What really happened is that the injury resulted from the aforementioned pillow fights. We can’t rule out every option, here…..

SheilaAnn Excellent theory. As you know their motto is “What happens in the pillow fight, stays in the pillow fight” so we will probably never know. If this turns out to be true I will definitely keep an eye out to spot whoever stops posting and permanently disappears from the Pit. Then we will know who the whistleblower was, and may they rest in peace.

As an eyewitness to this almost tragic event, I feel I need to help set the record straight. captainleehas the story right. We agreed to leave the nuns out of the story to try and protect the innocent, but since Panhead John insisted on bringing them into this I think we need to clear this up. The nuns were there, on strict orders from the pope himself, to try an emergency exorcism on John. It appears he had been successfully avoiding the papel order, but they found out about the ill fated Burnt Bean outing. In retrospect, John's actions were twofold - yes, he was trying to get to the front of the line, but at the same time, he was actually trying to push the nuns in front of the speeding BMW. I heroically intervened to save them, putting my life at risk. Thankfully we were uninjured, but the demon, well, I don't want to talk too much about it. I am still here for another day and a half...

Okay, okay, okay. I will accept your account of what happened because:
1: You are well regarded as a truthful and upright man.
2: And, you have the ability to shut down the power grids serving my community.

I rolled into town at 1pm Thursday and went straight to North Street Curry Shop for some butter chicken.

That evening the group went to Garcia's, I ordered the chicken Chile Relleno. It was OK but not great: the pepper wasn't completely cooked making it a bit tough and the shredded chicken was tough and dry.

The Burnt Bean is perhaps the best BBQ joint that we as an Amazing Ribs group have been to. There was nothing bad on our plates. Sid P The pork ribs were tender with great bark and flavor, some of the best that I've had. Redbird BBQ near me makes them as good. The El Cinco sausage was great: juicy with a nice snap to the skins. It was very similar to the Hatch cheddar sausage that I made a couple of weeks ago. The side dishes were as good as the barbecue. I got the Street Corn corn pudding (excellent) and the Bacon Ranch Taters which was one of my favorite things on my plate.

Things not photographed: I went brewery hopping with IdahoJim , his wife Sonia, and Uncle Bob 's wife Lee (Uncle Bob was getting some much needed beauty rest). We went to Roughhouse Brewing. One of their beers is spontaneously fermented in a cave on the property - no samples, you have to buy the bottle so I didn't try it. I got a four beer flight and they were all good. Next we went to Middleton's Brewing. I had another flight all of which were also good. One was made with juice from the fruit of the prickly pear.

For dinner last night seven of us went to Thai Thai Cafe, I had pork dumplings as an appetizer (very good) and the Pad Thai - I liked it a lot. I had the leftovers for breakfast this morning.

At one time an old man near Wichita Falls TX made wine with prickly pear apples. It was known as pig ear wine. It had an awesome kick. Most of the women in that area made some incredible jelly with them also.
