Hey folks, I just thought of something for anyone who might be flying into Austin, or San Antonio, for the MeatUp. There’s no need to rent a car for the weekend. If you can just get transportation to San Marcos from the airport, and back, with Uber, Lyft, or however, you won’t need a car once you get there. There will be plenty of folks with vehicles to drive you around wherever we go during the MeatUp. In fact, here’s a picture I took of 58limited at the last Texas MeatUp, giving a ride to some fellow Pit Members……..

Yes, I can vouch for that. But after two Coors light PJ had passed out, and I had to escort his date for the rest of the night. what I do for friends….

About 35 minutes from San Marcos is a set of stunning underground caves called Natural Bridge Caverns. It was discovered in 1960 by a group of 4 college students. The landowner later turned it into one of the premier attractions in Texas! I was thinking that for anyone interested, we could take one of their guided tours down into the caverns. The tour lasts a little over an hour and is a fairly easy trek, nothing strenuous at all. This might be something we could do maybe Saturday after lunch? I was talking to 58limited yesterday and he also thought it would be a great addition to the trip. Anyway, as always with these MeatUps, you’re welcome to do or go wherever you wish. There’s also a wildlife safari on site. I’ll provide links to both…….

Panhead John I like the way you think. John as a former wild child I have no problem with that at all. When I was 17 we bought one of those “hot water bottles with a hose on it”, filled it with Boons Farm, hung it from my rear view mirror, and passed the hose around.

Oak Smoke filled the washer reservoir with shine, and ran the hose up through the ac duct. Push button liquid refreshment. Getting pulled o er, no problem, push it back into the ac vent, they never find it. True story.

Indiana has a tiny version, one big cavern you can scuba dive in. Also a small swim thru. No sun, very little light. Always cold water. Have not been in over twenty years.

This might work. The week of the 8th is Masters week, so I probably won’t make it then. I might go to Augusta, but either way it will have my full attention.

I can stream ice skating on my phone, so the 19th is good for me. BTW, it is tradition for me that Masters weekend is the start of Gin and Tonic season!

      #37
I'm out for the weekend of the 20th - not women's ice skating, but I WILL be wearing high heels. lol. Other weekends in April, I think I can work with.

I believe we're going to be starting up our new business on April 29th, but that doesn't preclude me from coming that weekend. I don't think it should matter. I don't think I'll have any big responsibilities that weekend.

Thankfully, none of my brothers or friends would spend money on a camera. Even if there were pictures taken, it’s highly unlikely that the film ever made it to the ‘photoshop’. But yeah - it looked like that a lot. Man! That was a blast!!! 😎😁

      UPDATING THE LATEST UPDATES……..

Ok folks, we’re getting close to having the MeatUp dates and hotel confirmations posted, maybe later tonight or tomorrow at the latest. I just spoke to Sarah at The Homewood Suites and also spoke to the GM at a Hampton Inn this morning. Sarah has taken all my information and has to get with another person about getting our group rates. I’ve given her 2 weekends to give us pricing on…..April 11-14 and 18-21. She said it will be later today or in the morning before I’ll know anything.

The GM at The Hampton will hopefully have some rates for me today. I feel that either of these 2 places will fit our needs, but a nice selling point to me is the full size fridges that Homewood Suites have, most hotels just have a mini fridge. Anyway, I’ll be posting here as soon as we’ve decided on something…..carry on 🥸

Ok, here’s the scoop on The Hampton Inn…….the rooms either have 1 king size bed or 2 queen size beds.

WEEKEND OF APRIL 11-14 They have a mixture of 1 King bed suites and 2 queen bed suites available to block off for us. The rate is $134. per night plus taxes.

WEEKEND OF APRIL 18-21 They only have 1 King Bed suites available for this weekend. The rate for that weekend is $149. per night.

I’ll post The Homewood Suites’ rates when I get them.

Alrighty folks, the Texas Hill Country MeatUp Committee 🙄 has finalized the plans! Here’s the scoop…….

Dates: Thursday April 18 thru Sunday April 21

Accommodations and Location: The Homewood Suites in San Marcos, Tx.

Our discounted group rates are $149. per night for a 1 King Bed Studio Suite or $179 for a 2 Queen Bed Studio Suite. I figured most people are going to want the 1 King Bed Studio Suite, so we have 13 of those rooms blocked for us and 3 of the 2 Queen Studio suites. DO NOT BOOK YOUR ROOMS NOW! Tomorrow I’ll have the link for us to use to book our rooms and get the special rate. I’ll post the link here for everyone to use. All our rooms will have an open floor plan along with a kitchenette and close to full size refrigerator/freezer. There’s also outdoor and indoor seating where we can gather for coffee, cocktails and to hold executive meetings….

They have a 72 hour cancellation policy before our check in date. Anyway, we should all be able to start booking our rooms by tomorrow night……

Dang John you saved my butt. The son’s birthday is the 26th and the wife’s is the 28. I got that old “it will be fine” answer, but I was going to have to come up with one heck of a birthday gift. I’m so screwed if she finds out what I’m getting lab grown diamonds for.

CaptainMike preaching to the choir. Not many establishments have them, but the ones that do no longer get my business, as well as relieve a letter from me as to why. Might as well have a sign up that says "free speech not allowed here"

Okee dokee, my room is booked. Thursday - Sunday….Party of 1. My girlfriend Halle Berry was going to go with me, but she’s got a hair appointment that weekend, she says. 🥸 As usual, my Executive Vice President of Roster Development, 58limited will be starting a separate post later, with a list of all the attendees. Thanks for doing this David!

I'm booked, Thursday - Sunday. I'm also going to have to call and edit my reservation to 4 nights. Gonna fly out on Monday. Looking forward to it. One attendee. My wife may or may not come. Depends on her work, but she won't be part of this group. She'll go down to Austin to see an old childhood friend.
