TripleB Nothing is set yet except for the month of April. We’re strongly leaning to having it in San Marcos, Tx. right now. I hope to have all the particulars posted here by early/mid next week though. Stay tuned, we’d love to have you make it! And Cap’n Mike is correct about a full refund. 💩 They’re issued out of our main office in Beijing. Please allow 6-8 years for delivery.

As it happens I'll be in Austin for the total eclipse, booked our room back in August or something. We've got some outreach going on out in the Kerrville area, but I don't think I'll be officially part of that. Hoping to meet up with some of my foodie/music friends, like my pal Jenni. Not that it would have been all that likely I could have flown out for it, but having just been there definitely rules out any such... Definitely the center of the BBQ universe out there!

I may be in the grand ol' country of Texas around that time. I should be able to make another half-day trip to get to San Marcos, if I'm already in country.
I can let you know once all the details are arranged, on the meatup end and my moving family end.

With our Son living in Austin, and thinking about a spring trip to visit, this might be doable. But since I am not, and never have been HWMBO, the final decision for when will be made by SWMBO.

IMPORTANT [kinda] UPDATE……….
So far no one has mentioned any weekends in April that WOULD NOT work for them. If anyone that’s interested in going has a weekend that WOULD NOT work for them, please let me know ASAP. I would like to book a hotel for us either tomorrow or Monday at the latest. There is one Homewood Suites location in San Marcos and Troutman brought up a good point as far as being an ideal location….its close to Austin and Lockhart, which are both BBQ Meccas. If anyone has another location in mind please let us know, otherwise I think we should choose San Marcos for our destination.
As far as which weekend we should choose, I’d like to take either the 2nd or 3rd weekend in April, depending on availability of rooms. The farther away from May we stay, the cooler the weather should be. I’ll be contacting the Homewood Suites today to get an idea of room availability, dates, amenities etc. Nothing is set in stone yet, we’re still open for suggestions. Stay tuned!Last edited by Panhead John; January 4, 2024, 01:50 PM. Reason: 58 limited made fun of my spelling. 😢

Been wanting to Meat Up, but Carol’s Birthday is in April.
I doubt I can convince her to travel to Texas and sit around with a bunch of old, (and new) farts.
I want to save the trip for something South of Mason Dixon, and east of the Mississippi.
St Pete is not a good venue b/c hotels are pricey and good bbq is scarce.
…. when will someone do a Deep South meet up? FL Panhandle, GA, MS, AL, SC, maybe north MS, near Nashville?

Being kinda picky aren’t ya?……😂 🤣
Seriously though Johnny, bring her to Texas for her birthday. The women who have attended have just as much fun as the men, trust me. We don’t just sit around and talk about BBQ. 🤠

I will make the ask. I will have to tread lightly, or I may trigger a much more expensive vacation request. 😂

Johnny Booth Some of the activities we do are entertaining for both genders, such as………
1. Friday Night Pillow Fights…….They're legendary!
2. Who Goes To Jail First? - On Thursday night we all try and guess who gets cuffed first. Winner/s gets a free meal!
3. Back Alley Craps - On Saturday night we find the seediest place in town and shoot dice.
4. Free Polka and Foxtrot Dance lessons. - At each MeatUp CaptainMike or myself teach free dance lessons for the group!
Hard to top that!
