As my own personal epilogue to this event, it is with the utmost sincerity that I welcome each and everyone of you, individually or in small groups
, to our modest home and table if you're ever in the area. My endless gratitude is extended to you all for making this a wonderful, fun event. And, another shout-out to DavidNorcross, Panhead John, Clawbear57 and my wife, Mari Jo, for all your help in pulling this thing off. I truly couldn't have done it without your input and guidance. Thank you!

All great stuff you got there, and a lot of memories sitting on this table.. My Uncle Blake always took me and my brother to Scott’s when we were with him. The Mt.Olive factory was built on another relative’s farm, and I can hardly imagine how many hogs my granddad., dad, and uncles delivered to Neese’s over the years. Now I want a homemade sausage biscuit made with some Neese’s sausage.😋 And guess what I had for lunch today. Pimento cheese.

Really glad everyone had such a good experience, and that the weather was so fine - glorious up and down the east coast. From the outside looking in, Wayne's leadership deserves a ton of credit, along with all the support he got from those who stepped up to support. Looks like a tough act to follow for the next Meat-Up...

wayne T, in the for sale channel Panhead John posted, before this fracas started, about taking a free pan to your meat-up.
And I was not aware that anything posted here was "important."

yakima meant to say worthwhile, not important, my bad. Wasn’t aware a “fracas” was started. 🙄

Large Big Green Egg, Weber Performer Deluxe, Weber Smokey Joe Silver, Fireboard Drive, 3 DigiQs, lots of Thermapens, and too much other stuff to mention.
I left this morning around 8:30, made it home just fine around 5:30, taking my time and stopping for lunch again at Schaffer’s. This time I tried the pulled chicken sandwich with a side of brisket chili. Da-lisshus. Look at the size of that sandwich!
I am going to ride the bbq meat up buzz for quite some time.

Oh: everyone knows I’m making a Lexington chopped whole hog omelet for breakfast tomorrow. At least after meeting me, I hope they do.
I can’t decide to make quick pickled onions, or just fry some onions. I honestly don’t think it’s going to matter.

Surprise: for four days I ate pig like… well, like a pig, and I only gained a pound. That will be gone by the end of the day. Honestly, it felt like 10 lbs.
Good.

- Grew up in New Orleans, 20 years in Texas, 22 years in Mandeville, LA. Now Dallas, TX
I wonder what the result would have been if everyone weighed in when they arrived and again when they left? Can anyone guess what the total differential would have been? Awards go the one who gained the most and the least, along with the closest guess to the total pounds. Anyone who lost weight is no longer allowed at a MeatUp. LOL

I actually thought about a weigh-in and weigh out contest to see who gained the least amount of weight. It didn't take me long to realize the futility of such an endeavor with this group. I used to do something similar with my three sons over the holidays from November 1 to January 1 where we each step on our scales and take a snapshot of the before and after weights. After my second oldest son won twice in a row, interest waned quickly.

Pit Barrel Cooker
Sierra 3 Burner Griddle
Accessories:
Fireboard 2.0
ThermoPro TP-20
I’m still pigging out. Whenever I visit my daughter in Durham we have lunch at "The Original Q Shack".
I had a two meat combo plate with brisket and sausage. Hush puppies and pickles & onions come with every meal, and I love them.
Warning, meat close up!
I may stop at "East Of Texas" on my way home tomorrow, but I might be BBQ’d out. We’ll see.

WayneT I’d call it very good. I really like it, but I wouldn’t take a road trip to have it. It’s been here 20 years and has 4.6/5 on Google and 4.3/5 on Facebook. My only complaint today was that the brisket was sliced too thick. Everything was really good, and my daughter would come here just for the jalapeño hard boiled eggs.
I was dead serious about the Angus Barn, but I’ve eaten so much this trip I decided to pass. I’ll most likely go the next time the LW is with me.
