The Meathead Method
I am sad that someone felt like this was the way to have to leave. This site has meant so much to me in my journey to cooking greatness! My friends and family have benefited immensely from what I have learned here by way of good food to eat! As much as I want to think that I am maxing out on what I can learn about some of my smoking, I know I’m dead wrong.
Y’all are always teaching me new stuff. My favorite most recent learning moment was Richard Chrz posting about his off sourdough bake that helped me understand why mine are different now than when I first started baking them.
Then there is the generosity of this site and Meathead. The monthly giveaways and the many tutorials and sneak peeks we get. Personally being given a smoker to rehab by Meathead was a huge act of generosity when I know he could have made around $500-$1,000 off the thing . Plus the BGE he gave STEbbq. I have all the respect for him.
I’m excited to hear what the big announcement is!

Okay, here's my take on it. Rob whatever is entitled to his opinion and feelings. And he should be free to share them. How I react is my choice. I choose to ignore it. It is what it is and is no concern of mine. Or put another way, whatever.
However, I do admire his talent.
How so, you might ask?
Over in the Jokes thread I recently re-posted a link (I'd posted it before in Share the Music) of a Ray Wylie Hubbard concert. Here it is again if you are interested, which you should be, in my opinion.
At 20:00 Ray ends a song and credits it to an album he had recently released. He describes the cover picture of the album, one of him holding a sword in one hand, his severed head in the other. He then tells the audience why he chose such a grotesque picture. He said, "I finally figured out you get more attention burning down the barn then carrying out the trash." He goes on to say, "When I was a kid my job was carrying out the trash, as long as I carried out the trash nobody bothered me, I was invisible. But you burn down the barn one time, you get some attention."
So, why do I admire Rob whatever 's talent?
In one post he burned down the barn AND carried out the trash.

It's Over-turned
Lasting post. Let me start by stating the obvious, I love to smoke. Will always love the smoke. This site has good info and for awhile when a shark landed on my grill the best happened to me. I looked on twitter, found Meathead cutting through the skin of a shark. I was embarrassed and worse felt like an idiot. Realising his sole purpose is to promote and idiot proof way and insights that are tried to achieve best results. He's given me peace in being able to accomplish this task and for that I say shot to him.
Same for the pits favourite sons. You all post interesting things that keep us from getting bored. And before you say anything, it's my pleasure.

Everything runs its course over time. Been a KCBS judge for 10 years now, but not as excited about it as I once was. Same venue, same rubs/sauces (sweet), same judges, same stories, etc., etc. I go to maybe 2-3 events a year now. Just not as interesting. Sounds similar to what Rob is going through.
I don't know Rob, but he was very upset in his post. Maybe there were external/internal factors, apart from BBQ and Meathead, that fueled his rant. I don't know. Hope all is overall well with him and his family.
Regarding Meathead, I have nothing but respect for him, his website and all the information he has put out. It has helped, as well as many on this website, me to become a better BBQ'er.Last edited by TripleB; March 11, 2024, 11:08 AM.

My sister - in - law was married to a man we believed to be bi-polar. His moods could swing in an instant. Maybe it's a mental issue and he needs medication?

Rob whatever Everybody makes mistakes. I'd like to give you the benefit of the doubt. Maybe you were drunk or something and are to embarrassed to admit it. Sometimes saying sorry works wonders.

Just wondering, did Rob whatever have any prior posts that elicited 4 pages of responses or is this his most discussed post? We're all probably spending more time discussing and reading about his saying goodbye and F.U. than we ever did about anything else he said. Not sure if that says more about him or us.

Was this a joke??Originally posted by Rob whatever View PostLast post. Let me start by stating the obvious, I love the smoke. Will always love the smoke.
