Mrs. CN and I went to Wenatchee, WA last week to see the urologist for a follow up on the kidney nodule. Before heading home I took her to Leavenworth, WA to play tourist and visit a shop that sells flavoured oils and balsamic vinegars so she could stock up. Leavenworth is a small town at the base of the Cascades that prides itself on a Bavarian theme, even the grocery stores and filling stations are required to have a Bavarian appearance.

Just down the road from Leavenworth is Peshastin, WA, a very small town on Highway 2. Mrs. CN wanted to get some peaches, so we stopped in at a farm stand that is quite the attraction with old trucks, a play area for the kiddies, and just about everything under the sun in the store, including a giant chicken.

Drove Mrs. CN back to Stevens County on Saturday. Got this pic at her favourite pit stop in Republic, WA

When we came over last Wednesday there wasn't any snow where the coffee mug was. In case anyone heard a collective sigh of relief, it was the town of Republic, where the third Saturday of every January is their 'Winterfest'. Last year the snow was sparse. They picked this up on Friday, and got another five inches today. More forecast for the end of the week. Elton's BBQ just in case you forgot, this is what snow looks like! ;-)

Thanks for posting, sometimes I feel like the Maytag repairman on this thread! Beautiful sunset, check out the 'Today's sunset/sunrise' thread in Off Topic Discussions. Were you gone the whole week? I'll bet Olive was happy to see you!

No I was home every night but 3 days left before 5:00am didn't get home till after 9:00 pm. Just happy to have this one behind me.
But yes unlike my wife Olive is always happy to see me 😉.
Just like the old story goes lock them both in the trunk for a 1/2 hour and you know only one will be happy to see you when you let them out. Haha.

Comfortably numb, yes I am interested in apple wood… it is excellent for poultry! It coals up much better than Cherrywood. Can’t find any locally, have to order it from Fruita wood. Expensive! I would definitely be willing to trade boxes. Where are you located?

Nah, I was diving/hiking/camping and hanging out with my brothers family. There were down there for a while. There is great fishing right were I was but, I asked around and it sounded slow. The diving was great though. I thought about bringing my 10 Wt and trying to grab a rooster fish, but I decided to leave the rod at home. One of our dive master said they had seen them while spear fishing, wish I woulda brought the rod. hogdog6

Monday I had to go to Spokane for another periodontist appointment, I don't want to talk about that, and you don't want to hear it! Anyway, on my way back to Okanogan I pass through Grand Coulee. Climbing the hill going out of town, I looked and saw this:

That is the Columbia River backed up by the dam. Seen it scores of times, but something was different, so I turned around, went through town and to the dam.

The water is cascading over the spillway. Normally all you see a huge concrete wall. Here's another view, with the information placard in the foreground.

Well the show wasn't over, when I get to Bridgeport there is the Chief Joseph Dam. I couldn't stop on the bridge to take a picture, so I turned off and went down the road to find a spot for a shot. The sign that read 'Lower Reservoir Recreation Area' seemed like it might, so I turned off and went down. Well to say it was a good spot to take a picture is an understatement!

Craigar It was, pictures don't really do it justice. And even though the CJD is nowhere near the size of the GCD, just being able to stand literally next to the spillway made it more impressive.

The Good-One Is A Superb Grill And A Superb Smoker All In One

        the good one grill

The Good-One Open Range is a charcoal grill with an offset smoke chamber attached. It is dramatically different from a traditional offset smoker. The grill sits low in front and doubles as a firebox for the smoke chamber which is spliced on above and behind so it can work like a horizontal offset smoker only better. By placing the heat source behind and under the smokebox instead of off to the side, Open Range produces even temperature from left to right, something almost impossible to achieve with a standard barrel shaped offset.

        Pit Barrel Cooker Smoker

Griddle And Deep Fryer All In One

The flat top does the burgers and the fryer does the fries. Use the griddle for bacon, eggs, and home fries. Or pancakes, fajitas, grilled cheese, you name it. Why stink up the house deep frying and spatter all over? Do your fried chicken and calamari outside. Blackstone's Rangetop Combo With Deep Fryer does it all. Plus it has a built in cutting board, garbage bag holder, and paper towel holder. An additional work table on the left side provides plenty of counter space.
