Rust never sleeps on the Gulf coast. Plated steel grates are dusted fast! π Iβm looking for a good SS hinged grate that is solid! When I google that, I get many hits in SS but the drop down description says plated steel. π When I find a few (SNS, only fire,β¦) reviews say warpage and weld breaks can be a problem. Any one have a 22β SS hinged grate they are happy with!

- If not cooking outdoors, I am cooking on the stovetop with my 14" carbon steel wok, 12" CI skillet, or in the oven with my two Lodge CI pizza pans, or two dutch ovens. I've also got a nifty Lodge carbon steel grill pan that rocks for veggies outdoors.
smokenoob I've used and abused two of the Easyspin 22" grates from SNS and yet to see a weld break. I run the Vortex under one of the original ones from 2017-2018 timeframe, when the hinged part was detachable (read - always falling off when inconvenient). The one in my kamado is from January 2021, and is holding up, but has closed loops on the hinged part. Neither has broken a weld to date, after much use.
I did receive an elevated cooking grate from SNS with a loose weld on the end of one bar, but it was promptly replaced after emailing them a photo of the issue. It was like that from the factory, and the replacement has not had issues in 5 years.
We used to have more options, but that one company that made some real heavy duty SS grates went under a year or two back.

Lots of knives
3 Weber Performers
1 classic kettle
1 26" kettle
1 Smoky Joe
1 PBC
4 Thermoworks POPs
2 Dot and 1 Chef Alarm
2 Temp spikes
4 Slo n Sears
1 Smokenator
2 Vortex

I have the Slo n Sear one which is holding up ok.
I also have another, made of thick SS, that I really like. But unfortunately, that company went out of business.

WSM 22.5", Pitmaster IQ110, Weber 22.5" Kettle with SNS, Weber 14" Smokey Joe.
Hunsaker makes some really nice quality grates too. I ordered a few items from them for my WSM 22 and really like the build quality and customer service is top notch. I even spoke with the owner a couple times (called his cell) with some questions after purchase. They make a heavy duty and a super heavy duty grate for the 22" kettle.

I hear ya. Our coastal salt and humidity are the primary reason I bought the PK360. Cast aluminum and kept covered. Even then, the powder coat is taking a beating.
After 45 years in Florida, I have seen just about everything the weather can do. Not sure whatβs more damaging, the sun, or the humidity. I still love it. π

Another vote for the SnS Easy Spin. Actual SS and a larger hinged (and removable) section for use w/ the SnS.

"Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy." ~Benjamin Franklin
My SnS Easy Spin grates have held up well but I noticed that if I use the Vortex at full blast it can cause the grate to rust a little. I bought the Weber grate with the removable center to use with the Vortex. It is plated but has held up since I only use it with the Vortex and not regular grilling.
