I'm a Weber guy. Still have an old 1990 kettle that I picked up off of ebay years ago, but I had to buy the Weber 70th Anniversary when it came out last year. I got the Diner Green. Below is a couple of pics of her in action. And be sure to buy a Vortex to go with your kettle. I have multiple smokers/grills, but I still smoke my thighs, wings and whole chicken on the Weber kettle with a Vortex. The Vortex is a chicken roasting machine.

SheilaAnn - I got that retro hanging shelf about 35 years ago. My brother gave me his old kettle and that shelf came with it. Pretty cool what Weber use to put out.

I've had a few Weber kettles over the years. Down to 6 right now. As much as I like those new colors I just can't bite. To many older ones looking to be rescued.

Can't wait to see which way you go.

Jeez, all of you posting these throwback kettles kinda has me itching for one now, although I really do like the look of a good old black, standalone kettle. Heck, when these retro kettles came out I wondered why someone would pay such a premium, although now that they've regressed a little I kinda get it. I haven't had a kettle for awhile now, with the WSCG I never felt the need to replace my old one, but that look is so iconic.
Man this place can be expensive, lol.

Andrrr this place is the absolute worst. If had to count all of my Pit inspired purchases . . .they are a few of my favorite things. Stay strong and keep rescuing those wayward kettles!! πŸ”₯πŸ”₯🐿️

Embrace the future. At least get a Master Touch. Kinda like welcoming a grandkid for the elder kettles.

I actually do briskets in my 26" Weber almost the same way as Joe does only I rest it a lot longer. The only difference is I us an SNS and foil in front over the grate, so same difference. I load the SNS fully (wood chunks on top and bottom), bury a fire starter at one end and lite it. After that initial punch of smoke and the first few coals are ashed over, I close the lid. After that I let my Fireboard and fan control. take over. I've never had any perceptible acrid smoke left on the result.

Thanks Troutman . You wrote what I was thinking, β€œAfter that initial punch of smoke and the first few coals are ashed over….” I do the same, but I probably let them ash over more, just out of caution.

I don’t use the Kettle for briskets because the BGE is right next to it. I like it for ribs because the BGE is 18” diameter and the Kettle is 22”; I can fit 2 racks of full spares on the Kettle without cutting them in half!

Mosca, i try to make sure that everything has had a chance to work through the white smoke before i put my protein on. This includes my hardwood pieces. There is a lot of wood flavor in clean smoke πŸ’¨ πŸ”₯πŸ”₯🐿️

Well the kettle arrived and the box was in great condition but the enameled parts were hammered. ☹️ I reached out to the vendor and they said that Weber wants to try again, and no need to return anything. Hopefully this next round will make it. I have lost some confidence in their packaging. I mean if the box is looking good and everything inside is a mess what are ya doing? Here is the kettle . . .

If the next one makes it intact I will have a spare set of parts to keep her looking showroom ready but for now I am not feeling optimistic. πŸ”₯πŸ”₯🐿

ID:	1561320 Gotta follow up here on my first car. As we know there is nothing as exciting as the first car. I grew up in a rural backwood 5 miles up Greenwood Heights Drive. There was no walking anywhere. It was steep and curvy and thrilling when I got those wheels in Hot Rod yellow!! πŸ”₯πŸ”₯🐿️
