The return of Amanda’s loaded potato soup with homemade bread made with spelt flour this time. Excellent eating as we dig out from the foot or so of snow today.

Did Amanda use a recipe? I'm looking for a good one for loaded baked potato soup. My husband would love a bowl of Amanda's soup--looks great, as does the bread.

fzxdoc here you go. I find it best if you cook some extra bacon, roughly chop it, and use it for toppings for service. 2 slices per serving roughly. As you might imagine, it is a very customizable recipe.

A quick dinner.....pork tenderloins marinated in Lawry's Mesquite and Lime marinade for six hours. Grilled, then smoked with pecan until 140 F internal.

      52 F outside. Freezing, I say!

hoovarmin I had never seen that before... so you just hold it in place while pouring in the coals, and set it over your firestarter as usual? And how much faster is it? Never been longer than 10-15 for a chimney to be ready to go in my experience... It sure looks cool with that flame jet!!

Good evening. 1st those being hammered with blizzard conditions and sub zero temperatures I hope you come through with minimal impact.

Another hybrid meal. Last nights strip steak and rotini. Heated up the steak which only had pepper and salt. Used the rub pictured from my SS Baltimorelger. Just butter added to the pasta. And the last of Trader Joes Demi Baguette.

I must be becoming a wimp! It is too freaking cold to stand out there and cook. So inside cooking it was. Pork cutlet breaded and fried in skillet, green beans and bacon, loaded baked potato. Pretty tasty.

My garden wasn't very useful this year, but I had a lot of acorn squash. Today I made sausage and corn stuffed acorn squash.

Actually, that is a chili Dog in Blanket

          Tandoori 'style' chicken-
Garlic, ginger, turmeric, chili powder, and smoked paprika were mixed with mango yogurt (fruit on the bottom) to marinate the thighs. I didn't have plain yogurt, but it worked out better. I added the mango fruit from the cup to a dipping sauce for the chicken. Once skewered, I hung the meat over charcoal and cherry in my Bronco. Yellow rice and green beans were served with dinner.

          Glucose in 24 hour Yoghart

Supposition: how much glucose or lactose remains in homemade yogurt after a 24 hour ferment

          Process:

Treat 1 6oz jar of yoghurt with Lactase. 3 drops for 16oz, 2 drops will cover 6oz jar. This breaks lactose into galactose and glucose.

Mix with 18 oz water and allow mixture to rest 3-4 hours,

why? The test strip uses an enzyme that is specific for glucose. In order for the enzyme to work properly, the glucose needs to undergo mutarotation. In water samples, this process can take up to 3 hours.

          4 hours later, glucose 0

I have used the enzyme pills and the probiotics, neither was 100% guarantee.
The result of a ‘miss’ is just not worth it. Strange phenomenon, related to migraine headaches.

You would not believe the number of people who have literally lied to me about what was in their food, thinking I would never taste the cheese, butter, etc… only to have an episode hours later.
Also, if the amount is small enough, it is not listed on the product or can even be called Lactose Free, but my body will notice.
