Lots going on at this house today with the holidays upon us.

First up, another pork belly which will be ultimately rendered into PBBE tomorrow.

Call me a one-dimensional kinda guy, but I love the Meat Church Honey Hog Hot Rub. It forms a great bark and tastes amazing.

Mari Jo made French Onion soup for dinner.

Best French Onion soup on the block!

Click image for larger version Name:	IMG_1541.jpg Views:	0 Size:	3.03 MB ID:	1509397

Mari Jo also made some of ‘Bompa’s fudge, named after her dad, Aaron, who her daughter called Bompa for grandad.

I baked some stollen and shaped it like a complete rookie. Maybe that’s why the originator of the recipe decided that a 1” layer of powdered sugar was essential…for rookies. 🤦

Click image for larger version Name:	IMG_1542.jpg Views:	0 Size:	2.56 MB ID:	1509395

And last, but not least, I made some cheese straw dough to be made into straws and baked off tomorrow.

You and Mari Jo make a dynamite cooking team!

The plating is so bad, this almost belongs in “SUWYC Spoof”. But, it tasted so dang good, I was all, hell nah, I’m putting it up there! Smoky Chicken Tinga Tacos, homemade guacamole.

I am ridiculously jealous of that vent hood!

Alright, here’s my contribution to our family Thanksgiving. Mom does the cooking on Thanksgiving, so I bring the pies.

Chocolate Bourbon Pecan and a Pumpkin Pie. And homemade GF crusts of course! Happy Thanksgiving all!

Great looking pies! Can’t beat a good pecan pie!

Started Thanksgiving cooking yesterday. Baked a pumpkin pie, nothing terribly exciting there. My DD and I concocted a cranberry sauce recipe that is now our go-to. Here we are the next day:

It might not look like much, but it is really good. It has:
    • Cranberries
    • Sugar
    • Water
    • Key lime juice
    • Crystallized ginger, cut into tiny pieces
    • Cinnamon stick
I'll codify it at some point and add it to Paprika, but now I just wing it.

The mat was the second thing I noticed in the first pic. I didn't know they existed and I need one.

How'd the turkey turn out, klflowers ?

HotSun it turned out pretty good. I rubbed softened butter all over it and seasoned it with no salt Tony Chachere and some Voodoo Seasoning from cookingwithcajun. No after cook pics cause we had a crowd waiting to eat

I'm on to it... 16lb Turkey deboned, stuffed, and rolled up into a beautiful roast. Happy Thanksgiving to all!!

Turkey breast on the Kettle with green bean casserole, box stuffing, mashed taters and gravy. And I almost forgot the homemade roll that somehow disappeared before the plated photo. I tolerate turkey once a year, but SWMBO thought it was great. At least I managed to get it tender and juicy with a crisp skin that softened a bit while resting.

I took them off the grill at 155. Thermos didn't pop. One was fully cooked and there were parts of the other I had to carve around and throw in the fridge to get cooked more tomorrow. That's what I get for being in a hurry and confirming with the Thermapen in multiple spots.
