My new SNS Master Kettle was delivered to Lowe’s on Friday so I went and picked it up yesterday, Saturday. It was originally scheduled to be delivered Monday, so getting it early was a pleasant surprise. I put it together this morning and damn it was hot! I spent as much time wiping sweat off my face as I did turning screws. 🥵 From unpacking to assembly and cleaning up took me almost 3 hours! There was definitely a few times where having a helper would have come in handy, I could have easily cut the assembly time in half. Anyway, I took my time with it, along with several water breaks.
This SNS was probably the most well packed and protected cooker I’ve ever unpacked! Every single piece was wrapped or packaged with something, even the SnS insert was covered in protective wrap, along with the water tray! Huge pieces of styrofoam protected the kettle bowl and lid. Hell, it too me 15 minutes to unpack and unwrap everything! 😂 I’m not lying, I could probably drop the kettle in its shipping box out of a 2nd story window and nothing would get hurt! Also, SNS does an excellent job of labeling all the parts with numbered stickers…..a few exceptions were made for obvious parts, like the bowl and lid, etc. The instruction book was fairly well done, it could have benefited a few times with written instructions, none are given. The pictures are clear though, along with the numbered and lettered parts showing where they go. There was a few times I had to refer to an assembly video SNS has on YouTube, that helped me out a couple of times. If someone from SNS reads this, a sticker on the bowl that shows the Front of the bowl would have saved me a little time. Going to the video again, I was able to find out.
I really like how they package the nuts/bolts/washers etc. They’re all together in one package with separate compartments,….wrapped with clear plastic on one side and their corresponding letters on the back. 👍 Anyway, when it was all said and done…..I had 1 bolt and 1 washer left over….😳 Oh crap I thought, what did I miss? I went all over the kettle making sure all the screws were tight and looking for… WTH did I miss?! While inspecting it I saw a little hole with daylight coming through inside the kettle bowl, where it rests against the shelf, aha, there it is! Inserted the screw and now, I can sleep well tonight! The funny thing is, it clearly showed in the instructions where it went….I blame it on sweat fogging up my reading glasses…🙄
Gonna do my burn in later this evening and get it ready to use next week. What really drove me to sell my other SNS kettle and get this was the additional storage space and larger shelf the Master Kettle offers. The side shelf on my old one was barely big enough for a serving platter and not much else. The ash sweeps on this one are also bigger and longer than on my old one. For anyone in the market for a kettle, SNS now includes their deluxe SnS charcoal insert with ALL their kettle purchases. They used to offer it as an option in the past.
Think I’m gonna really like this!
Took 15 minutes just to unpack and unwrap everything…

Even the SnS insert was protected!

The ash sweeps are much bigger than in my old one.

Their EZ Spin grate comes in all their kettles

Edit: The lid should actually have been turned toward me with the vent and thermometer facing me, wasn’t paying attention…🙄
