This original PK Grill has been on Craigslist here for a few weeks. Price just dropped from $150 to $125. The thing is, I already have a Weber Mastertouch 22" kettle, a Weber 26" kettle, a Memphis Advantage pellet grill, a 28" Blackstone and just picked up a Weber Q 1400 (it's electric, boogie woogie woogie). I don't even use what I have enough. I only have so much room on my patio and in my garage. The wife is not excited about it, but, man what a deal. Tell me why I should not buy it.

Large Big Green Egg, Weber Performer Deluxe, Weber Smokey Joe Silver, Fireboard Drive, 3 DigiQs, lots of Thermapens, and too much other stuff to mention.
Where are you going to put it? What are you going to do with it that you can’t already do? Will food taste any better from it?
Wouldn’t you really rather have the $125?
—Mosca, the anti-MCS, who just passed on a $500 HastyBake 131 that had only 3 cooks on it, for those very reasons

1987 Weber Kettle (Still going!)
2004 Cookshack Smokette (The original!)
2012 Weber Genesis (Wonderful for steaks and chops!)
2014 Pit Barrel Cooker (Lovin it!)
Thermoworks Thermapen
Thermoworks Mini Handheld Thermocouple & Meat Needle Probe
Various other wireless remote thermometers
Beer...Bud Light (Timeless)
Who in their right mind would come to this group and ask to be talked out of MCS? That's like asking all your rowdy friends to talk you into staying home on a Friday night!
Have fun!Last edited by bep35; August 1, 2023, 07:16 AM.

Grills:
Weber 22" Kettle Premium w/Slow N' Sear 2.0
Pit Barrel Cooker
Grilla Grills Chimp
W.C. Bradley & Co. Char Kettle CK-115 ~1980s Vintage Grill (inactive)
I own a "PK clone" that is nearly identical to the original PK, with the only main exception being that the hinge is on the long side rather than the short side of the cooking chamber.
I never use it for one simple reason: Those bottom grates are a pain. You can't see them easily and adjusting them during a hot cook requires thick gloves and it is difficult to feel how you are moving them. This may not happen to a true PK, but mine got loose over time and if I bump the grill I now don't know if they've slid to a new position.
My Weber Kettle is far more enjoyable to use, although there is something to be said about the rectangular cooking grate.

You can buy it as a 'museum piece'. Or maybe vintage. That would make it attractive to hipsters, I suppose.

Backyard Jambo, T1000 Woodmaster, MAK 2 star, 14" & 22" WSM, 2x 22" Weber Kettle, Stoven, Hot Box Grill, Hasty Bake Ranger, RecTeq Bullseye, GMG Davy Crockett; Original Grilla and others I'm not remembering!
I think if you don't offer $100, you'll kick yourself for not trying. But it's a steal at $125. But -- I bought a 1950's Duchess (pre-PK) for $25 and brought it back to useable condition. Then gave it away!

You owe it to yourself to try it. You may love it more than the others, or you might "only" make a few bucks on it.
