    This Place Is Dangerous

Now I'm considering buying a Hasty Bake... I already have a BGE, Weber gasser, and a Weber 26 inch kettle. Talk me out of it (fat chance y'all would do that--LOL) or give me advice on model. Er, thanks.

Okay, this might sound crazy, but given that you are in the Southwest, you could do a really nice Santa Maria grill :-)

I think they make one that fits on the Hasty Bake.

I’ll try and talk you into something that’s much cheaper. Do you have a meat press so you can make your own bologna?

So, the Hasty Bake idea started while watching Dean Fearing's BBQ Stars video, never mind that he violates Meathead 's advice (soaking wood chips, salting just before grilling...), then I remembered that Meathead really liked the HB, and then it really caught fire whilst I was looking through Santa Maria stuff. I fear I'm hooked now.

Yeah, I think you’ve gone too far down the rabbit hole at this point Willy, probably no hope of climbing out. Enjoy the HB and send pics! 🍺

But hold off a few days until you win the First Prize and get one for free. Oh wait… that would be me. 🤪

Talking someone out of MCS puts you on probation in the Pit! LOL

I want one as well. That'll be my 7th outdoor cooking appliance. Well, if I include the tiny weber, tiny barrel grill, the turkey fryer, and the over-the-fire tripod.

sometimes it does... we talk people out of the cheaper option and get 'em in even more trouble with the other half with a more expensive one.

Against all standard protocols here, I share a Hasty Bake work around. This past fall I discovered that there are HB clones, perhaps house brands. Adjustable charcoal grate via crank, a door to add fuel, a drawer to catch ash. Locally, have seen at least 3, range from $80-150. I picked up one as new, perhaps unused, for $125. On local Craigslist/Facebook Marketplace.
My impression is that the sellers do not realize what they have. I have no experience with HB, so cannot speak to build quality, but the unit that moved in here seems pretty solid.

Yesterday, Facebook Marketplace Yakima. KitchenAid HB clone listed. Clean, $200. Looks like 3 charcoal grate levels.
If I knew how to post a link, I would.

Nexgrill apparently made the grill for Kitchen Aid, in China. Home Depot carries the Nexgrill model, at only $150. Will check it out sometime; must be very cheap construction.

What niche in your cooking arsenal will the Hasty Bake fill, since you have a BGE and 26" Weber?

The ability to quickly lower the charcoal--like a Santa Maria grill.

              Good question though.

That’s all the grills/smokers you have? Buy it and you still have room for a few more.
