It comes with the rotisserie which will fit my Legacy once I order the longer rod. I feel foolish for purchasing the ranger at the scratch and dent sale since I found this whole unit for less than the rotisserie is new!

    The catch?

I’ve got to drive 7.5 hours to get it. Luck would have it that my wife and I are meeting with our builders in the town over where it’s located in Idaho and she knows I’ve wanted a rotisserie and understands the bargain here. I’ve contacted the seller and he has agreed to hold it until Friday for me.

The real question is will the continental or the unused ranger end up getting sold/traded or will they both remain triumphant in staying on the porch next to the Legacy?

Any members have experience with the Ranger and the Continental that could share their experiences would be appreciated.

NICE! A hasty bake is the only grill I'm truly envious of

That is a great deal. I also bought a Ranger during the scratch and dent sale but have only used it twice so far. I already had a Hasty Bake 357 and a Legacy 131 and just bought the Ranger on a whim but kind of wish I wouldn't have. I'm not sure how often it will get used.

I'm sure the Continental will be a lot more versatile than the Ranger. Enjoy it.

Sounds relatable indeed! Hopefully we both find love for our rangers or find them new homes. I’ve left my Ranger in the box and have continued cooking on my other grills until I make a decision on what to do. Figure I’d be able to recoup a bit more of my costs if I don’t use it.

That 357 is a sweet looking unit for sure!

Rangers are easy to sell if you decide not to keep it. I will probably keep mine.
IMO, the 357 is their best grill. I bought mine two years ago at the S & D sale for a very nice discount.

Let us know what SWMBO decides.

As long as I’m actively listing and working to sell some unused grills she won’t have an issue. A couple gasser projects cutting into my allowable total so they will have to go!

Ah man. I saw that ad on Thursday but it's been a hectic couple of days. I was looking for reviews of the Continental 84 and found this thread. It's only about 30 miles from me. Oh well, I guess I'll stick to my Weber Mastertouch and 26 incher.

I am curious about something and this is what I was going to ask about before contacting the seller about the Continental 84. How well does that funky folding lid work? It seems like it may be tough to get a good seal for going low-and-slow.

Oh, and congrats on the new grill, although I am a bit jealous...

It is the same lid as the old Gourmet 256 like I have. Works fine, just need to be aware that eventually the pop rivets for the hinges are going to break and have to be replaced.

Ah man! Sorry you guys didn’t work a deal out before I came out.

After spending the morning cleaning it up I did a 1.5 hour pork tenderloin cook and the lid seemed to leak much less than I would have anticipated. The lid seems a little off kilter but it didn’t seem to hinder the performance.

I was also surprised that I enjoyed the glass window as much as I did. Just need to keep it scrubbed and clean.

PNWBrandon you can fix the “off kilter” issue with new pop rivets in the hinges, potentially. Take a look at whether one, or both, are loose. If so, cut them off and put in new ones.
