Glass dish safe to use in the bronco?

    Making mac & cheese.
Can I assume if a glass baking dish is safe in a 350° oven, it should be safe in the Bronco at the same temp?

I would think. May get stained.

I second this. Probably will end up looking pretty smoky, but I imagine your food will turn out great! Let us know how it goes if you do it!

In Boy Scouts we used to put dish soap or Pam Spray on the outside of our cooking pots to prevent staining and ease clean up prior to cooking over an open fire. Maybe this will help with cleanup and to prevent staining.

Glass and ceramic that goes into a smoker will pretty much never look clean again... if that's not an issue, you're good. If it is, perhaps to someone in your household other than yourself, well... all bets are off

We're going to need a signed note from your wife before approving this.

I’m with everyone else, the glass will stain from the smoke. It’d be a major pain to try and clean. I’d just buy a cheap $10. non-stick loaf pan, or something similar, from Walmart and use that. Throw it in the dishwasher afterwards and use it as a dedicated smoker pan…..plus you wouldn’t have to worry much about temps.

          Now that makes sense.
Or go to the dollar store and get a throwaway.

Welp. The boss wouldn't sign the waiver. I could have put into a different pan, but evidently it doesn't cook right in any other pan except this one 🤷‍♂️
I guess I'm just going to have to endure the complaining about it being hot in the house because of the oven...lol

I remember from boy scouts, that if you coat the outside of pan / pot .... with dish washing soap it would clean up pretty easily.

Exactly what we did, and it works. We just rubbed with a dry soap bar.

+1 on the bar soap and my Boy Scout experience. When I started backpacking as an adult, I wanted the outside bottom of my backpacking pots to be black to heat faster to use less fuel.

I have two casserole dishes from Goodwill dedicated to such endeavors so no permissions needed. I do wrap them in foil when I use them.

The spray Bar Keepers Friend will take the smoke residue off, no problem.

Traeger Grill spray cleaner should work also too.

I have a couple of older Pyrex dishes that we no longer use in the house which I use on the grills. Most commonly I use them for smoked Potatoes Gratin

I possibly would use the old Pyrex dishes made from borosilicate glass, but the newer Pyrex, not so much. Made of tempered glass, they are more likely to explode from temperature changes, like putting a cold casserole on a hot Bronco (or PBC) grate. Plus I'd be tempted to obsess about hot spots on the grate, since my worry meter is always at a default low hum anyway.

Nothing wrong with using a metal pan, at least in my book.

I never really thought about which material they are made from. But I've not had an issue with using pyrex on the grills. Not sure it's really any different from putting it in the oven that is heated up.
