Hi all, new to the boards and this seems like a good place for my first post. I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere else; my favorite is Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale, especially during football while smoking a nice Liga Privada.

Being Thanksgiving in the US, today I partook of two of my favorite beers: Old Chub Scotch Ale from Oskar Blues, and No Problems Session IPA from Perrin Brewing. Tonight will probably see the opening of a bottle of Aberlour 12-Year Non-Chill Filtered Scotch.

It'll be hard to move me from Bell's. I've yet to try other Perrin's, but I will eventually.

Well, you're closer to Shorts than Bells... I'd say you're a lucky guy! I love visiting either brewery, though. We are really blessed in Michigan to have so many great breweries vying for our drinkin' dollars! Just this year alone, I can count seven new breweries that've opened in the GR area.

New to the forums and this topic caught my eye. Very hard choice. dogfish 120 min IPA has to top the list as my favorite for once and awhile beers ($10 a bottle). Pipeworks Ninja Vs Unicorn and Lagunitas Brown Shugga are my fridge stuffers

'Brown Shugga' is definitely a good beer. Lagunitas is hit-or-miss style-wise, but I love their 'Maximus' IPA!

This summer, I was the lucky recipient of a beer hither-to unknown to me... a friend of my wife's from work brought her a can of The Alchemists' Heady Topper IPA. It was, without a doubt in my mind, the greatest IPA ever created in the history of the world. If you haven't partaken, try to get to Vermont to pick some up (as that's the only way you're going to find it). If you have, you know what I'm talking about; nothing else you try, from that moment on, will match it in your mind. You will ruin your love of IPAs forevermore.

The only thing I've tried which even comes close (and is available in the Midwest) is Deschutes Freshly Squeezed IPA. And that, you have to try to find fresh.

There are a lot of great breweries out there! In Michigan we are fortunate to have Bell's and Founders. Both are World Class in my opinion. But as a Homebrewer, I tend to think of beer in terms of styles. Some of my favorites are Pale Ale, American IPA, American Brown, Traditional Bock, Octoberfest, and Munich Helles. I also LOVE Bourbon Barrel aged Imperial Stout and Scottish Wee Heavy.

who am I kidding....I love them all!!! LOL

I have the bitter gene, so hops taste bad to me. I prefer beers with less than 20 IBUs, (International Bitterness Units). That makes Hefeweizen and similar types at the top of my list. If I can't get a Hefeweizen, Dos XX amber is good. or Blue Moon which is a witbier - very similar the the hefeweizen.

interesting. I don't care for hoppy beers, like IPAs, because my nose tells me i'm drinking cheap perfume - those high notes that can make you gag.

Too many great beers out there to be pinned down to just a few.

IPA is my favorite style. im currently enjoying a, Elysian space dust IPA. Nearly everything Deschutes makes is wonderful. One of the best I've had is Tree Shaker IPA by O'Dell.

Being winter, it's stout/porter season. Love me the bourbon aged stuff. Found a bunch of BCBS this year. Revolution Deths Tar is good.

We spend a lot lot of time in Michigan during the summer and there's more there than you can get to....but I mention it because we found some great cider there (Virtue Cider).

get out there and try something new!

I discovered Odell IPA while visiting Fort Collins, Colorado and it is my all-time favorite brew. Sadly, or maybe fortunately, it is not sold in SC.

Old Rasputin Russian Imperial Stout from north coast is a very good "nice light summer drinker"!!!
I also really enjoy bourbon barrel aged stouts!

I'm really loving Deschutes Fresh Squeezed IPA right now. It's great with BBQ and hot summer days. I tend to lean towards the coffee/milk stouts in the winter.

Deschutes makes some pretty good beer. I can honestly say I have yet to try one from their brewery I didn't like.

                    My favorite 2 beers are
1 The ones that are buy backs (free). And
2 The ones that contain barley and hops
