8/25/2017 Just a PSA...
Folks now is a great time if you can find it in your hearts to give a little something preemptively to help OBR prepare for the work ahead of them for the good people in TX & LA who are soon to be affected in the coming days by not only the winds but the devastating rains/flooding they're predicting from Hurricane Harvey. For more on OBR, what they do, and to offer some help if you're able, visit this link: http://amazingribs.com/BBQ_articles/...ue_relief.html
OBR is at 401 West Dallas St, in downtown Houston if anyone wants to stop in.
To see what OBR (and you!) were able to accomplish in 2016, see this post: https://pitmaster.amazingribs.com/fo...ub-memberships
Also, when you shop on Amazon, if you add "smile." in place of the "www." and make it "smile.amazon.com" you can select any number charities to give a portion of your purchase to, and this does not affect your price at all. OBR is one of the charities. Any item on Amazon is also on smile.Amazon, and this gives 0.5% of your purchase to a charity of your choice, every time. It ONLY works if you use smile.amazon.com though. Please, if you can consider giving a couple pennies of your purchase to OBR, you're helping deliver not only meals, but Grade-A BBQ meals to those who truly need it most.

Good evening everyone! Today (August 30th) was our first day of feeding in Houston. Our volunteers served 12,000 hot bbq meals to those affected and first responders. We had 60 volunteers that helped make that happen.
We are prepared to ramp up food production to 25,000 hot bbq meals by Friday. We could not do this with out our sponsors and donors. From our team to yours we would like to thank all of you for your support.
The last couple of days I have been live streaming on FB both my personal page and the OBR page. I hope you take the time to go check them out so you can see what the OBR set up looks like.

The rain continues in Houston and the flooding is historic. Most of the major roadways are still unpassable in town. High water rescue vehicles and boats are the only way to get around in Houston right now. We are rolling into Spring TX this morning to stage equipment. We are working with officials from the City of Houston and will be looking for a location that we can support the community and first responders with hot bbq meals!
We generally try to be on site after disasters strike however this one is still happening and we are having to be patient and wait to ensure the safety of our volunteers.
I left KC yesterday morning pulling our trailer loaded with supplies and coolers loaded with 1000 lbs of pork so we can start cooking once we have a location. We have proteins that will be in route today to Houston and more supplies in the works for this week. We will ramp up equipment, supplies and volunteers by next weekend. We will have the capacity to cook up to 25,000 meals a day! We are ready to get cooking and helping provide hot bbq meals to those in need!
Here are a couple of pictures of our truck and trailer that I am driving down.

Once I have more information I will update everyone! Thank you for your support!

Hurricane Harvey made landfall very early this morning just east of Corpus Christi as a Category 4 Hurricane. The last Category 4 to make landfall in the US was in 2004 and the first Category 4 in Texas since 1961. Over the next several days the flooding could be devastating as Harvey is already stalling early this morning near Victoria, TX where that area could get 30 inches of rain.
OBR Teams from Memphis, Kansas City, Shreveport, and Austin will be loading supplies and preparing trailers to respond to the needs created from Harvey. We will be leaving these locations on Sunday heading to Texas and staging near Austin until we have a location and it is safe for our teams to proceed. We do not know what the need will be, but we are prepared to serve 10,000+ hot bbq meals a day.
We could use your help. This will be a major deployment for us potentially lasting a couple of weeks. Here are 3 things we need
1 - We will need donations both monetary as well as product. Here is a small list of products we will need once we get into location:
Protein (Pork butt, pork loin, turkey, etc.)
Bread (buns and loaves)
#10 cans of corn and green beans
2 - We will need volunteers once it is safe for an extended period 7-14 days. We are asking volunteers to register on our website or download our new OBR Volunteer App that can be downloaded for iPhone from iTunes and Android from Google Play. <Volunteer App Link>
3 - Lastly, share our social media with your followers. We are posting primarily on FB but have Twitter and Instagram that we use as well.
