Is it possible to get any financial statements on them? I would like to see those if possible before donating. The company I work for is located in Houston and to make life easy on HR they are giving every employee a substantial bonus to help get through the downtime caused by Harvey. Those of us who have not been affected, or don't need it, are looking to where we can best redirect whatever we receive.

dustbuster - thank you. I have given to them this time and tried to get them to my area for the dam disaster in Oroville earlier this year. Unfortunately, there aren't enough members in the West to have made that happen. They were prompt in getting back to me with emails when I inquired about volunteering here. While I hadn't seen the financials previously, I could tell that they were on the up and up. The link you posted for boftx is great. I appreciate it, too.

Hey RonB we don't have a lot to give but we gave it all and then some more. What you can give is just that. My home is blessed (can we say that?) enough to be able to kinda scrimp on a lot of groceries and redirect that money to others.

Just an idea. I sent the The Pit news letter with the donation information out in a mass e-mail at work. You would be amazed at the amount of people that came out of the wood work to donate. If your employer will allow you to do this, please consider it. The more people that know how they can help those in need, the better.
