Sorry to hear about your FoodSaver, randy.56 but happy to hear you've found a replacement that checks all the boxes for you for vacuum sealing. Let us know how it works out.
Tip for Avid Armor Ultra USV32 converts:
I thought of this thread last night. Since my son transferred from the Costco deli to the meat department, he's been bringing home a lot of roasts and cutting his own steaks at home, and as a result using my Avid Armor Ultra USV32 much more than I have lately. He mentioned that it wasn't pulling a strong vacuum and he was having to to re-do quite a few pieces. I was thinking, Uh-oh, it's got the Foodsaver disease!
Actually I thought I was going to have to change the gasket. But when I pulled the old gasket out, it looked fine, just a little dirty. So I washed it with dish soap, put it back in, and it's working perfectly again. I had wiped the gasket down to clean it while it was installed many times, but I had never taken it out for a full bath.

Interesting finding, radshop . Thanks for the info.
Every once in a blue moon the Avid Armor USV32 will show an error message about not vacuum sealing properly. Usually what I do is to start the cycle again, holding the lid for a few seconds as the vacuum kicks in. After that everything is fine.
FWIW, I wipe down the inside and outside including the gasket and the heating bar after every vac sealing session..
The symptom in this case was not an error message. It seemed to work like normal and looked like a tight vacuum through the window, but then would come out loose. So my diagnosis was that air was leaking in the time between full vacuum and when it sealed, leading me to suspect the gasket.
I also let the bag sit a few to make sure the seal cools a bit. When I first started using it, I would pull the bag right away and jeopardized the seal. Lesson learned.
I agree, SheilaAnn, and especially if doing a batch of multiple items where that bar stays hot. Gotta let it cool down between rounds, and also give it at least a few seconds after it seals before you open the lid. I try to get a rhythm where I'm prepping the next one while one is sealing, so there's a built in time buffer instead of trying to rush them one after another.
