Been eyeing the Weber Summit for sometime. Just couldn't justify the cost with all the other gear I have. It was purely and MCS thing. Then Weber goes and rebrands it as a kamado and drops the price significantly for essentially the same cooker. Still couldn't justify it no matter how hard I did the Smeagol/Gollum type back and forth.
Then this past fall the wife tells me she got $250 cash back from her Visa rewards program. Well, hell, how much am I gonna get (I usually forget all about it)? When I checked, it was like $150!!! No effin way! Not with what I spent this past year. We are not heavy cc users, but $150?!!!
So I called. Turns out someone I don't even know was linked to my rewards program and had been cashing out my points. They started an investigation on Dec. 2. I followed up a couple times and was told they're still investigating. Last Monday I get a voicemail from a rewards program person to tell me they went and restored all my points going back to 2018...over 87,000!
I chose cash back in the amount of $1,150. I could put it in savings. Maybe put it aside for truck tires I probably will need this year. Use it to pay taxes we owe every year. You know, responsible adult stuff.
It just seems to me the MCS gods took mercy on my torment. I know this as it couldn't be mere coincidence that a Weber Kamado costs $1,149 and the rewards program snafu yielded a secret Kamado savings account in the amount of $1,150.
Would it be too greedy to hope those same MCS gods have started another accessories savings account?
