And I’ll tell ya something else, if I say no okra in your gumbo, then By God no okra! Or, I’ll come to California and strain it out.
      😂

Always have okra in my gumbo. I use the trick that includes some chopped tomatoes to cut the slime. No slime I say !!!

Brewmaster Inspired by your soup, roasted cauliflower, white bean, rainbow chard, little bit of tomato and garlic confit. And it simmered with a pecorino Romano rind.

Once this damn pandemic is over, my buddy and I will probably start up our annual trip to Brainerd again. SCCA sports car racing at BIR. I’ll have to look you up!

andy.wpg I'm up for that! That's our craziest week up here next to fishing opener. I'll even throw on some meats on smoker and we'll have some adult beverages. The only thing that would screw it up is if we were in a Bbq competition!

We do make a fair amount of soup but that would be in winter time, it's far too hot nowadays. Our favourite would be a good "boontjie sop" I did not post the English title for fear of backlash.

The top photo is a San Francisco style cioppino. The bottom one is Native American 3 Sisters soup, with acorn squash, corn and pinto beans ( the "three sisters" of Southwest Native American cuisine).

Made chicken soup again, this time a "kitchen sink" version! With roasted chicken, stock, carrots, onion, celery, spinach, bok choy, corn, peas, potato (not much) and rice.

Turkey Vegetable with Rice. Sorry for the poor picture. Going to be below zero here for a few days so should be good to have!

The only reason that’s a poor picture is because it’s not one of it being shoveled into my mouth. (How’s that for a compliment Skip?) 😂

Not sure whether this was a soup or a stew. It got some bits of thin cut pork chops and a bunch of oven-roasted veggies: carrots, onion, garlic, sweet potato and Chioggia beets. There also were green beans, peas and corn. Finished with some Brussels greens. This was my first time using Herbs de Provence. Not sure if it was the herb mix or the black mustard seeds and celery seeds in the broth, but that worked really well. Served with some "crusty" bread that just wouldn't stay crusty today with all the rain.

Soak the dried mushrooms in hot water 15 minutes. then slice thinly
Simmer the chicken stock, mushrooms, bamboo shoots, carrots, ginger, garlic 15 minutes
Add the soy sauces, salt and sugar and cook 2 minutes
Add the tofu and canned mushrooms
Combine the water and corn starch and stir that in
Drizzle in the beaten egg while stirring
Add the black vinegar and white pepper, take off heat

You could use regular vinegar for the black and regular soy for the dark if need be.
Sounds like a lot at first but make it once and it comes together quickly. I don't add meat, you can do that and you can add green onions at the end if you want. Add a little toasted sesame oil .

That chicken tortilla soup looks and sounds delicious!

Made a pot of "chili stew" on Monday. Does that qualify as "soup" since it has tomatoes and beans added???

                I think it does!!! 😎

                Still enjoying the leftovers!
