jlazar Ok this is what I got from her:

~3/4 Cup chopped onion, 2 tsp minced garlic sauteed together w/ EVOO,
add ~1.5lb ground *round to it, season w/ salt & pepper & garlic powder to taste & cook.
When fully cooked *DO NOT DRAIN, just add the beef mixture, fat & all (not much since it's round), to pot with:
2 cans petite diced tomatoes (not drained),
1 can black beans (not drained),
chili powder, cumin, & cayenne to taste.

    That's it!

What's up with all this no beans! bunch of no beaners, (new word) Beans are a great source of protein, If you were stuck on a non BBQ dessert Island, and had only one food you could take with you, what would it be. Beans, you can live on beans, Tell me what other fruit a man can live on. you can remove unwanted guest from your home with them. You can make a bubble bath with them. Bean counter, bean pole, Bean me up Scotty. Cool beans. Spill the beans.

    Come on Man !

Down here in Texas I have discovered something called frito pie. It involves chili and you can guess what else. I have yet to try making it using my own chili in it though. I’m from New England and we generally had beans in our "chili". I don’t let that kind of chili out of my house in fear of being shot at.

Thicken your chili with corn meal. Add it to the top of fritos (try heating the corn chips in the oven a bit first) top with shreaded smoked cheddar, diced white onions, and diced jalapenos!!! If its too hot add a dollop of sour cream and or butter to it. My kids love chili on top of a loaded baked potato. I am a purist. put it in a bowl and garnish the same as frito pie if you must.

W.A. My wife is from Texas, and she adds black beans to her homemade chili. As a Texan, I reserve the right to give her a hard time, but if I'm being honest, I eat the hell out of it! Her homemade stuff goes well with Fritos. I doubt there is very many chili's out there that don't.

I voted beans but picky, and have to explain. I make my chilli with light kidney beans. They hold up well, have a good color contrast, and to me, taste better than chilli beans.

As i recall back in my Army days the chili had beans and was served over rice. I really enjoyed it, but I never put mine on rice. But beans is pretty much all I know. It's even hard to find chili without beans around here unless you make it yourself.

Isn't it Chili con Carne? I don't see Frijoles in the name.

I made Meatheads chilli yesterday and I added beans at the end, it was very good. The top top picture is the final product and the other picture is before I added the beans. We prefer beans in our chilli.

Pretty funny that there are no votes yet for "I hate chilli". Might be something to do with this site. I always make two kinds as I like mainly meat with some beans and my wife likes all kinds of veggies added in.

In my view (from Maine and live in NYC), I have to have beans in my chili. I'll go with black beans if I make it myself.

Chili is chili, and beans are beans. Keep my bowl of red bean free. I LOVE be a big batch of hot cowboy beans, but please don't add any to my chili. The stuff that a lot of people call white chicken and black bean chili is NOT chili, it has very little if any chili powder in it even. You have goulashes that have beans and noodles and stuff in it, but that's not chili. As a matter of fact, I'm making a big pot of Texas red chili tomorrow. Mudkat and the rest of you that appreciate a real chili have a standing invitation, the rest of you heathens can go to hell or New York City, it would be about the same to me. (I'm really not that mean, that was to be funny, hope i don't hurt anyone's feelings, lol)

lonnie mac what peppers you use? I use ground anchos, chipotle, guajillo, smoked paprika, and smoked ghost (for what I call my Hot-Hole chili when I am with other chili heads, otherwise I leave the ghost out). Looks good.
