My husband and I have debated for years on which chip deserves a spot in the pantry.
He insists on Wavy chips I am an original thin and crispy type.
We both agree kettle cooked are iffy at best, and only certain brands and flavors make the cut.
Which do you prefer?
Lays kinda finally started doing it here, but I really liked the Walkers event crisps in the UK. Every year they roll out a few odd flavors and then the public votes and 1 stays around.
But for my normal go to I like the sams club brand jalapeno kettle chips
I used to like wavy lays but they taste like cardboard to me these days.
Smokin-It 3D
Weber Kettle with an SNS
Masterbuilt kettle that I call the $30 wonder grill
Bullet by Bull Grills gasser
Anova WiFi sous vide machine
Thermoworks Thermapen and Chef Alarm
Lay's Wavy give you crinkled texture on a Lay's-thickness chip. Best of both worlds.
Don't care for basic chip style, particularly if being used for dips.
We like the crunchcrunchcrunch of the kettle-style chips. Ruffles Have Ridges and do stand up to dips fairly well.
In no particular order of chip brands:
KETTLE COOKED
CAPE COD
WAVY LAYS
RUFFLES
DORITO SCOOPS
SNYDERS jalapeno ranch stix. These are pretty, pretty tasty.
ON THE BORDER jalapeno ranch chips. Not as tasty as the Snyders pretzels, but still a nice alternative to the Dorito flavors
I remember doing potato chips a year or two ago. But here goes again....
ZAPP'S - Spicy Cajun Crawtaters, Salt and Vinegar, and even (wait on it) No Salt (just chips in peanut oil with potassium)
FRITOS - Just can't stop eating them
JAY'S - When I can get 'em, grew up on them in Chitown.
At the end of the day I don't think there's a bag of chips I don't like. And the problem is they're like crack cocaine, I can't stop eating them. <sigh>

I like Lays Kettle Cooked (or Winco store brand of the same - much cheaper but almost as good). I do not like Kettle Brand; they leave the defect chips in the mix - like that one on the far left in the photo!

I can honestly say I haven’t eaten a chip I didn’t like. But if I had to choose it would be Fritos, followed by Cape Cod S&P or kettle cooked pepperocini flavor.
