What a disappointing pepper season πŸ˜”

What a disappointing pepper season, hence the title.
Aside from a dozen really great jalapeΓ±os and about the same with some poblano peppers. This was by far my worst pepper growing season ever.

The one and only pic shows my entire yield this year.

How did all of you fair this season??
I hope a lot better than me.

Welp here it is. Pitiful. 😒 Click image for larger version

Mine was terrible. It rained all spring after I planted the plants and then it was so hot they did not grow at all in July.

Peppers sucked for me. Decent yield but all small undersized. Only grew bell peppers this year.

No peppers, but a disappointing deer season is well underway for me.

My pepper crop was poor as well, last year I was giving peppers away. The peppers I did grow we smaller as well. I did manage to make one batch of fermented hot sauce but I bought some additional peppers at the market.

Sorry to hear this man! I know you are a pepper nut. Maybe it’s because I failed to stop by this summer. πŸ™„

On the flip side and not to rub it in.....I had a great year in the pepper garden. Tons of exotics and good old JalapeΓ±o peppers. I am still harvesting. I had a record year with my Carolina Reapers too. I also added some bone meal fert every two weeks, so I am sure that helped too.
However, it really must be that great MN black dirt! 🀘🀘 I guess the "fly over states" are good for something. 😎

LMK if you want me to send you some, I owe you one! πŸ‘ŠΓ°ΕΈΒΒ»

The poblanos came off nicely, but everything else was way off as well. We had a lot of tomato fruit but not much turned red. We only put up 8 quarts this year. It froze last weekend and the garden is done. However, The Master Gardener transplanted several nice pepper plants into pots and they're doing pretty well in the shop.

Meager year for peppers here, as well. Season was very late to start, and I am getting a small crop now. The one exception has been my shishito peppers. Two small plants have been prolific and are still producing well.

We have arbol and tabasco pepper plants at the clinic, all produced quite well this year. One tabasco plant is almost 8' tall - no winter last year and it didn't die back. I have 1 1/2 qt of pureed tabasco peppers fermenting on the counter to make a somewhat authentic Tabasco sauce.

Our entire garden was so-so at best. Too wet and cool in southern MN.

My three-year-old jalapeno plant just gave up a colander full of red fruit, hotter than hell! Cowboy candy, ought to make six pints? Bell, Poblano, Anaheim, and Jimmy Nardello (never heard of 'em before) are all cranking out fruit faster than I can pick them.
Tomatoes are about done; we've had some mornings in the forties.

Good old Sonoma county. Like Mendocino both are great growing regions. The best gardens we've ever had were in Redwood Valley.

I'm wishing you were here, CaptainMike. A"wind event" is predicted for tonight and tomorrow, on the second anniversary of the Tubbs Fire.
Living in town is no longer the secure feeling it once was.

"Three year old JalapeΓ±o plant"?! The frost in MN kills all of them in MN, so I have never had them go that long, nor did I know it was possible. I believe we are getting snow this weekend, so my garden is not long for this world!

Yeah, it just keeps coming back. I dont pull any of the peppers up, but this is the only one to survive the winters. it's pretty protected in my backyard, and it only freezes a couple times per winter

That's one hardy pepper plant. I'd use that one as seed stock to plant more.

Mine was okay but not great.. My serranos and jalapenos were only okay but I had my best habanero year to date.

Poor year for both peppers and tomatoes here in coastal VA. Temps hit mid-90’s in May and stayed there until September. Even a shade cloth didn’t help.

Now we’re dealing with warmer than normal fall temps and my fall crops are struggling. My corn salad didn’t even germinate.
