Just finished our annual cider pressing party yesterday. One week later this year due to the conflict with Halloween. Roughly 40 participants. Did an early pressing before guests arrived and used up my Arkansas Blacks and Harrison Cider apples from my trees for our private reserve stock. Plenty of food, drinks and fun. After dark we move inside for chili and homemade apple pie. My 4 dozen apple cider doughnuts disappeared quickly and are requested again next year. And, it was a glorious day weather wise.

Last week pasmom and I bought 3 half gallons of apple cider from our local orchard on Signal Mtn, TN. One we opened, one is frozen and the other went to my son in ATL for Halloween. The orchard has been there for over 90 years and after some 50 years or so the current owner is retiring, he sold the orchard and is selling everything out by Thanksgiving. A shame to lose this local landmark. Signal Mtn, my former home, is just outside of Chattanooga.
