Peach season is in full swing here in the Mid Atlantic states! I don’t know why I’ve never seen these before. I looked them up; they’ve been around for hundreds of years, but only in the US for about 150 years or so.
If you see them, they’re worth it. They’re sweet, complex, and they have a small pit that’s easy to navigate around.

I’ve never seen them before! We do get Lori Anne peaches, and white peaches. But these are great because Mrs and I often share a peach, and cling peaches are really hard to separate. This way we can get 2 donut peaches each, equals about 1 large peach!
Panhead John. We're camping near Telluride later this week, on the way home we'll stop in Olathe at one of the farms and load up with freshly harvested. Blanch and freeze for the winter.
My co-op gets them, and I love them. Slice and grill lightly, then throw them in your drink (alcohol or otherwise) and they are stellar. I also use them in sangria, and griddled as a side.
I need to see if the stores here carry them. I like to cut peaches in half, grill both sides until tender (skin slips off) and serve with a honey butter bourbon cinnamon sauce and ice cream.
