What is the collective preference? For 40 years we have been buying the short peeled version, due to convenience. Any reason to change?

Large Big Green Egg, Weber Performer Deluxe, Weber Smokey Joe Silver, Fireboard Drive, 3 DigiQs, lots of Thermapens, and too much other stuff to mention.
Always the big ones. I might sometimes pay more for slightly prepared food (deboning chicken thighs is a real PITA), but to me, paying a premium for baby carrots is like buying broccoli florets instead of crowns or whole.

We have some of the little ones right now, b/c SWMBO likes them for a side with lunch. I like them, but generally get the big ones (have those as well right now) for all cooking uses. I find the small ones get slimy and go bad way faster than the big unpeeled ones. Plus, its pretty easy to make a bunch of carrot sticks if I'm snacking, and easier to slice them for salads or cooking.

I use both depending on what is going on. If I want some just for dipping in ranch, I get a bag of baby cuts.
My dogs like them too, so it is easy to slice the baby cuts into small pieces for them to snack on.
If they hear me cutting carrots, they come running.

Yeah, this is a weird thing. So the little ones are carved from the big ones. But for some reason, they always taste like plastic. They always taste like the bag that they came in. It’s like sticking a banana in your sack lunch. Your peanut butter and jelly sandwich is gonna taste like a banana. Always get the long ones

I prefer the fresh ones and my dog agrees. For some reason he won't eat the 'baby' carrots. He loves the long ones as much as a horse does. I think he is trying to tell me something. For convenience, occasionally I will buy a bag of the little ones but when I throw one to him he just drops it

Tormented by the thought that some were thinking that only a spendthrift would buy baby peeled carrots, I checked prices. $1.29/lb for loose long. A bit less for packaged peeled baby, and about the same for packaged long carrots. Got some long ones to glaze. Looks delish.
