    Vegetarian Option ( Jackfruit)

Does anyone have good rescipe for vegetarian BBQ ideas. I have seen some thing for jackfruit to make (Vegan pulled pork).

To be honest, the vegetarians with whom I have experience don't want veggies disguised as meat; they want vegetables. If I were grilling or smoking for a vegetarian, I'd start with recipes/ideas from something like Steven Raichlen's "Grilling with Veggies" and just go from there.

Jackfruit is exactly that. I have served it to multiple vegetarians and they loved it.

I'll echo what MBMorgan posted, Steven Raichlen has an entire recent book (2021), How to Grill Vegetables, and it is excellent.

He draws heavily on the book in Season 3 of his Project Fire show. One episode is dedicated entirely to meatless grilling: https://video.mpt.tv/video/episode-3...e-meat-b6ijyi/

There are recipes for portabello burgers out there:

For vegan grilling, I would think mushrooms would be generally useful.

Sliced, firm tofu marinated in a teriyaki style sauce then grilled is incredible.
I prefer to marinate it in a homemade tare sauce made from tamari, sake, mirin, and dark brown sugar reduced about 50%. You should be able to find a simple recipe online.
The only caution is that tofu will stick to your grates, so make sure to keep your grates oiled.

Yep. I do this too and they seem to like it. If I have to feed more than a few,(Always grandchildren’s girlfriends for some reason) I just make a vegetable paella a la Raichlen
and they definitely love that as does everyone else.

That sounds like that would make a good kabob ingredient. You could add tomatoes and zucchini or whatever with it.

I’ve had jackfruit and it’s actually pretty good. I’ve never cooked it though, so no help on that one.

This is pretty basic. I think this is the first time I made it. Now I usually buy the canned stuff.

I added some smoke and then some sort of sauce.

          Then I assembled tacos.

I have made it too and the vegetarians dining at my house enjoyed it. I used the canned stuff too. I served it like it was pulled pork with sauce on a bun.

It's super easy with a great texture. I have also done sandwiches quite a bit. I can't tell if this was jackfruit or pulled pork but this is what jackfruit looks like in a sandwich.

I actually have this book https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/...ithout-a-grill not because I'm vegan (be serious....) but there are times I'd like a plant option but still want something in the 'que universe of flavors. It's pretty good.
