Among my fondest memories growing up was going to the Wisconsin State Fair for corn on the cob. They roasted it pre-shucked, then peeled back the leaves and dunked it in a coffee can filled with melted butter. Add salt and enjoy. Ah the memories of butter drooling down my chin.
Where I live now, we have a farmer's market of sorts called Sweet Corn Charlie's and the corn comes from a farm about 10 miles to the south. They pick the corn in the morning, bring it up here, and start selling about 10AM. THAT corn one could eat raw and still enjoy (but I still grill/roast or boil it and add butter and salt).
