Spice House Back of the Yard seasoning blend is pretty darn good. One of my favorites.

I guess i live in a bubble. I have never heard of penzeys or their political issues, lol.

Me either, and I'm sure I deal with a lot of companies whose politics I don't agree with.

Amen to that. As much as i like the idea of tailoring my life to things i support and think are "good"...quite honestly i dont have the time to do the required research to make a truly informed decision. Therefore i tend to shop by quality, affordability, access, and customer service.

If I shopped only going by political beliefs of company owners, I would be living in a cave eating grubs. Shopping around is fine, but I really like to look at the products before buying. Sadly, it has become an internet world.

It was not just their political beliefs. I couldn’t care less what they are. It was the fact that they were emailing me every other day and shoving them in my face. I want to buy spices not be lectured at (meaning Penzey’s not you).

That i totally understand. I hate when companies shove a non-business related platform

No worries. I guess I unsubscribed to their e-mails because I don't recall getting many or I just delete them. I usually just go to the store in Arlington. I like smelling all the spices. It is like aroma therapy.

cliffdw1 I bought the hatch Chile rub when I ordered my standards. It’s delicious.

They are a local company for me so I like supporting them whenever I can. I have tried Derek Wolf's Nashville Hot rub and it is excellent on chicken wings. I have enjoyed some of their other rubs like their Black and Blue, Honey Habanero, Thai Peanut, etc. and they have all been tasty.

JoeSousa I purchased a sampler that had those you mentioned in them. So far, all of them are great. The Oh Canada isn't the best IMO, but i LOVE the thai peanut as well as the cowboy crust coffee rub.

I don't know how their pricing compares but I came across Spiceology after looking for Derek Wolf rubs that a friend had suggested.

I shop local, Frisco Spices. This place has been in the Omaha area since 1928 and is also the local Hobart dealer. https://friscospices.com/

When I lived in Colorado, I bought all of my spices from Savory Spice. I still buy them online almost exclusively.

ofelles , I never completely understood all of the animosity towards WM. I worked there when I was in hs & college with good pay, insurance, retirement, etc... and they worked w/ my schedule. As far as killing Main Street... All WM did was offer a shopping opportunity and experience. It was the consumers that chose to go there. Yes they drive prices down but the only place consumers are willing to drive prices up and pay more are at auctions... not retail.

ofelles , I actually feel Amazon has done an unbelievable amount of damage to small businesses by allowing sellers who violate intellectual property rights (especially patents) to continue to sell products for a lower up against the actual owners of the intellectual property. But like WM those companies need Amazon to provide a medium for them to reach the masses it just so happens Amazon is an online company.

Nate Yes to all the above. Like I said, doesn't make sense I just picked Walmart. And Amazon, I'm getting less happy with them. Just they make it so much easier and that is a bad excuse.
Like everyone I look for a low price but I still want quality and will pay for it. It would be nice if we could go back to having integrity and pride.

Have to be careful buying in bulk. Spices (especially ground ones) will lose their potency over time. I buy small for most things, in glass jars. I am willing to spend a few extra bucks for the good ones, so I don't have a bunch of bags or plastic bottles around that don't get used.
