I just received an email stating that Oakridge is done. They’re going to sell rubs until they run out or December 31. I’m hurt by this. They’re a great company focused on quality and my go-to.
Black Ops, Santa Maria, and Secret Weapon nevermore…
hoovarminItsAllGoneToTheDogs I am not going to link to it because it is very political but you can find a video on Oakridge’s FaceBook page that discusses the topic.
hoovarmin I can't post anything specific without starting a heated political discussion, but there's a few youtube and FB videos that are easy to find. Personally, I very rarely let CEO viewpoints drive my purchasing decisions, you either have a good product or you don't and I thought they had a good product the few times I've tried their rubs.

Masterbuilt kettle that I call the $30 wonder grill
Bullet by Bull Grills gasser
Anova WiFi sous vide machine
Thermoworks Thermapen and Chef Alarm
They are one of my go to for rubs. Have enjoyed everyone that I’ve tried. My favorite are Carne Crosta and one I use often. But my absolute favorite is Black Ops. Will have to hope to get one bag at least before it’s gone.

Having been involved with the development as well as building and operating of small businesses for more than 45 years, this type of story still pains me. Historically, 3/4's of the time they self destruct because the entrepreneur underestimates the difficulties they will face. In these times we have even more negative external forces that cause harm to small businesses than ever. What may seem to be "well intentioned" decisions are more often a more harm than good scenario. The old expression; "The road to hell is paved with good intentions." is an old saying for good reason.
I understand. Having owned 2 successful small businesses it’s amazing the hidden costs and regulations you will encounter. My first eye opener was adding up the number of days my employees would be off but expect me to pay them for. I had some much sought after people so I had to really consider this. If I paid for 10 days vacation, 5 sick days, and 7 holidays I had the equivalent of a months work to pay for with no income generated by that employee. I have to stop, i could go on for hours.
100%. My wife and I had a craft retail business about two decades ago. Neither of us had any business training. Even doing a hobby business, wow, the things you don't know. It wasn't a complete disaster, but knowing what I know now, I never would have started that enterprise.

Yeah, the store near me has them but a) they're kinda pricey, b) that aisle has literally hundreds of rubs. No rub is so unique that I can't find another that I like just as well.
They are pricey, but the rubs are great, complex and really fresh. That being said, maybe that is not what the market truly needs. It is like a car that can go 0-60 in under 4 seconds. Fun, yes, but do people really need/want that for their daily driver? Fun and nice to have, but are people really gonna be willing to pay for them time and time again? Not to mention the common consumer? Probably not.
