Which one is the pork butt?

Hi everyone, I've just purchased a Berkshire pig from a farm not far from my home and i just received the cuts this week. The only problem is that the butcher didn't write which part it was on the meat so I'm a little bit confused since it's the first time I buy a whole pig.

I wanted to smoke a pork butt this week end. I posted the pictures of 2 different parts that I think is pork butt. The first 3 pics is from what do you think? Are these 2 part pork butt? Only the first one or none of them?

The fat on the second picture looks like a picnic. The bone on the fourth picture looks like a Butt. I can’t tell much from the other pictures. They look small, but I assume Berkshire pigs are smaller than what you get at the supermarket.

I agree. The second pic looks like a picnic. Pic 4 definitely looks like a butt.

Agree. 2nd looks like the picnic and 4th looks like the butt.

Probably right, you got the whole shoulder. Upper part is the butt, lower part is the picnic.

The good thing is you cook them both the same way and their both great for pulled pork.
