    Re-Freeze Pork??

    I have a 2# package of pulled pork that has been vacuumed sealed with a Foodsaver and then frozen and thawed completely. We didn't open it. Do any of you have an opinion on weather it's alright to re-freeze it?

    That's a good question Skip. I too use the Foodsaver. I in the past have re-froze meats that are still sealed without issues. I assume the 2# package of pulled pork is cooked, correct? Also how long after it was thawed (hours, days)? When air hits meat, that's the danger point. Depending on how long it's been thawed is the question. I sure wouldn't want to waste 2#'s of good pulled pork

      Thawed about 48 Hours but in the frig the whole time.

    even if it comes out a bit freezer burnt, you can wrap it in cheesecloth, throw it in a stockpot with some celery, carrots, onion, and garlic, and have a great pork stock as a base for injecting your next PB.

      It's good.

      The big deal is cooling down food at room temperature and bringing it down to dwell in the danger zone. Improper cooling down is the main cause of food poisoning problems.
