I only buy from the butcher, raises their own pigs and processes. The main reason for me is that there is minimum salt, besides that very flavorful. Haven't bought store brands in so long I'm clueless. Kind of shocked at that Oscar Mayer good review, never would of expected that but what do I know.

I actually like Oscar Mayer a lot. Always have. It has a nicely balanced flavor for eating.

I like my Oscar Mayer, but NOT NOT NOT the Center Cut. It's much leaner and not worth a flip.

To SheilaAnn s point, I get those sort of feeds regularly. One I got on bacon the other day rated the 5 "worst" bacons in the grocery store. Their pet peeve was sugar content, higher content = bad. Generally the lower the price point, the higher the sugar level, though a favorite on this site, Wrights, was also on their "bad" rating. The high sugar thing reminds of how some internet favorite memes are somewhat dangerous. I'm thinking of the people who blindly recommend the best way to season a new griddle is to load it up with bacon. Then the newb sometimes ends up with a mess on their new griddle surface because they were unaware of how sugar and high heat are not very compatible.

My favorite is the cob smoked bacon from the Amish market near us.

Smithfield is a good value. I made my own for the first time and still have some vac sealed. It’s better than anything I’ve ever purchased.

Hmm. not for me. I'm guessing your computer just doesn't like store bought bacon either.

Too many “experts” on the internet making content instead of actual work. Now, get off my lawn!

Dry cured is superior. Robertsons ham bacon is my favorite that I didnt make.

I didn't watch the whole thing, I skipped around.. they missed my favorite (though I don't get it regularly enough to have a brand)... beef bacon! I do like it better than pork bacon. But obviously since I can't find it I mainly consume pork bacon.

I will say if you are lucky and check all the packs that sometimes WalMart has some perfect bacon. Smithfield used to be pretty good, but lately they stack the cuts so you can't inspect, and worse some brands throw a perfect slice on top and blackout where you could see if it's all sliced in order.

Nueske. Wrights. Troyer Dry Cured Peppered Bacon. And when visiting family in Ohio, Mom Wilson's bacon . If these didn't make the list (I didn't click the link), then I'm not interested in their opinion. 😄

We were buying Wrights at Sams. Till one day, we took a chance on Members Mark smoked thick bacon that was about $3 less .......... and it was good, very good. We now only buy Members Mark.

SheilaAnn I'll try, but I'm gonna run out of space here. There's a USDA inspection circle on the packaging, there can be a number inside. That is the " Establishment " number. The small circle on my package was blank.

                            I will quote Google AI

" When the USDA circle is blank, the true factory plant code is laser-printed or ink-stamped elsewhere on the plastic in a black or blue dot-matrix font "

That's where I found the EST number, next to the " best by " date.
