    Ham Steak Question

Out of the whole hog that I just picked up I had the hams cut into steaks...

Does anyone have suggestions on the best way to cook a ham steak, they are roughly 3/4 of an inch thick?

I am thinking of treating them like a pork steak cut from the butt.

    Thanks in advance...

Since they aren’t cured I don’t know why that wouldn’t work great.

I'll usually grill them, but sometimes I'll bake them in a covered baking dish until moist and tender. 🐷

I cure them and then cook em on the stove or the grill with a runny egg.

I grill them hot and fast. These are killer over a live fire. Nothing like pork fat hitting those flames, vaporizing and seasoning the meat the old fashioned way!

I use in eggs. Omelette, diced with onions, pepper and cheese. Or cooked with the eggs. Think overeasy or scrambled.

Done them a couple different ways, It's all good. low and slow smoke about an hour at 225 with a sweet rub, then wrap in foil with butter, for maybe two more hours until IT of 190 to 200, Or cook to IT of 185 then reverse sear, It's all yummy.
