    pulled pork quick question

I made too much pork. I'm going to freeze a big hunk. Should I pull it and then freeze or freeze it as one big piece?

It really does not mater much as to the quality. I do tent to pull it first. Seems to help it thaw fasted for reuse.

Pull it first, then vacuum seal it, then freeze it. That way you can thaw it in hot/boiling water. IMO it loses almost nothing that way.

Matters not. I've done both ways and both work well. Six vs. half dozen? Think it boils down to whether you want to pull it now or just freeze it & pull it later.

i've gotten better results freezing the butt whole, but you can do both. The basic premise of vacuum sealing lends itself better to whole pcs.

I like to pull it, then throw in a vacuum sealer bag with some sauce. Then, when I thaw it, all I need is some bread, and I have a great pulled pork sammich!

Pull, portion and vacuum. I bag and freeze without sauce. Vinegary sauces might mess with meat texture

Looks like the good advice as already been given out, I agree. I pull mine all at once ( want to distribute that good bark all through ) then vacuum seal left overs.

Weigh out 4 oz portions. Wrap each in a sheet of plastic wrap by bringing the four corners together and twisting at the top. Vacuum seal or ziplock a bunch of the 4 oz wrapped packets. Freeze. Want a sandwich for lunch or dinner later? Take a frozen packet out. Throw in microwave for 30 seconds. Remove plastic wrap. Go 30 more seconds. Sandwich done. A pulled pork sandwich any time of the day doesn't come any easier. I also do this with pulled beef and/or chicken.
