Well, I thought I was saving money on meat.....

This is one of those things that I've always known but it is so obvious that I never really got the implication. I've known that pork chops are simply slices of a pork loin. But I've kept on buying chops at the store rather than a loin or loin section and just slicing them myself!

So today, I went to the store to get a loin section. We are going to do this right. We are going to save money by doing it myself! I picked one up at $3.09/lb. As I was walking out of the meat aisle, I noticed HEB had a value pack of thick-cut loin chops for $2.69/lb. Hey! Wait a minute! That is not supposed to be!

Oh well, I thought I was saving money. At least now I can make the slices as thick or thin as I'd like. :/

Was the loin boneless or bone-in? And the chops? Probably just an anomaly.

All of them were boneless.

I think I see what happened and I am not losing my mind.

HEB will put things on sale, but often will not mark them on sale in the store itself. (I'm sure there is some weird buyer psychology here.) They'll just be at a lower price. That is what happened here. The pork loin chop value pack is on sale this week.
