    Pulling pork

I started with bear claws. Tried the rubber gloves *over cotton liners* and tear into it. Then. I. Tried. The.kitchen aid. Never going back. Any different approaches?

Used the Kitchen Aid the last time I did pulled pork and that's how I'll be doing it from now on.

What attachment do you use on the Kitchen Aid? The hook?

Never tried the Kitchen Aid for pulling pork. Is it really easier for a single butt? Do you get that same primitive rush that comes from using bear claws?

        Much easier, no rush

I don’t have a Kitchen Aid and am happy with the garden gloves covered with nitrile gloves approach. I really didn’t like the claws. Except for cleanup the Kitchen Aid is interesting, but as of yet I have no MCS accessory issue.

I'm doing two pork butts on the 4 th, I'll have to give this a try. Bear claws are ok, but always looking for better methods.

They wouldn’t be 9 pounders by chance, would they?

No 8.6 and 7.8. That should feed the grandkids, adults and four dogs. House is full, wife and i are going to sleep in the camper, fine by me.

By the way we used the Kitchen Aid with the batter beater attachment. I'll never look back, greatest way to pull the pork, I'm sold.

Very happy with my bear claws too, they make short work of everything I've used them on. Would not want the hassle of cleaning up the KitchenAid, frankly...

I use bear claws and love them, my sister uses 2 forks... I might try the kitchen aid option.

I use my hands, but if I ever have to do more than one, I'll try the Kitchen Aide.

I just use two forks as well, along with the cotton / nitrile glove combo. Found this to work better for me than bear claws.

When I pull pork, I use the claws and my hands (gloved) and I take time to pull out any fat or gristle as I do so. If I were to use the Kitchenaide with the dough hook, won't all the gristle and undesirable crap just get mixed in?

I dont use the dough hook I used the "flat beater" --- i dont have *much if any* gristle but when I am serving this stuff up I put on the gloves and do it by handfuls. It is easy to spot any gristle as it is larger than the shredded bits. YMMV
