If it comes off easily I take it off. If I struggle for much more than a minute I leave it on and figure I'm flossing my teeth at the same time I'm eating the ribs. Saves a step.

      I hate peer pressure, lol!

I take it off. I don't care for the texture. I Haven't tried ribs hot and fast as was suggested above. If I was cooking more than a couple racks I might consider skipping the removal.

Suggestion from wife would make it important for sure!

I hate removing it, plus, and I'm going to get in some trouble here -- I actually like eating the rib with the membrane on. makes it more "toothsome"

I agree, but I am a real carnivore. Sometimes I chew up the gristle! That's why I started this thread to try and find out if I am missing something by not removing the membrane. I think I will continue to leave it on.

Same here. That cartilage and whatnot is a treat for the dogs if they are hanging around; otherwise, I'm not above eating it myself. And there is not one edible shred of anything left on a chicken bone when I get done with it.

I will remove it if I have time and I think the guests will want it that way. For me personally, I don't really care either way.

I always remove it. Super easy to do with a fresh piece of paper towel and a butter knife to loosen it at the and to grab and pull.

I buy my ribs at Costco. Mostly baby backs and they are sold with the membrane already removed. For some reason the spares have the membrane still on and I always remove it. I just prefer it that way.

needed to add that I always leave it on for beef ribs. Keeps them from falling apart

I remove the membrane on pork ribs if it’s there. I leave the membrane on for beef ribs if it’s there.

I always remove as part of the trimming process. Dry paper towel is your friend!

Mr. Bones I understand not removing the membrane is okay, but the outer plastic membrane from the store is a must remove, even when bourbon is being consumed? :-)

10-4, I will Readily Concede that removal of th Plastic Membrane would be a compulsary move that one should consistently institute into th pre-cook regimen of any kinda Proteins...
