Want Pineapple on Your Pizza? It’s Gonna Cost You!

Just got this brief clip in my YouTube feed. Apparently there’s a pizzeria in The UK charging $100. to add pineapple…😳

I thought I raised my kids well, but they all like pineapple on their pizza. That's OK, though - I buy the monstrosity, and I buy a pepperoni & black olives pizza for myself and don't have to worry about going back for a 2nd slice only to find the box empty. So, it works out.

Another cost saving measure for me and my family. I'll never get pineapple.

      What a deal!

What I've noticed in buying pizza for crowds is someone always wants a ham & pineapple pizza. And yet mine - the extra pepperoni, green pepper and mushroom one - is the one that gets eaten up first, and I only got one or two slices. And the ham & pineapple one only has 1 slice taken from it. It's not even that popular with the people who "love it" when it's sitting there.

In Japan it was common to find corn and squid on pizza. I'm not making this up.

I've seen corn on pizza in Germany, and also tuna. I once ordered black olives on a pizza over there, and the olives were scattered around the pizza, whole and unpitted.

Most don’t like pineapple on their pizzas because it’s basically sh*tty pineapple. Try it with a properly ripened pineapple, like from Maui Gold, and you might change your mind.

        Double no.

I just don’t like pineapple. Period. However, I had this guest at my old job. We catered for him and his wife several times. Big entertainment lawyer here in LA (they used to live in the palisades, so I knew that neighborhood pretty well *sniff*). Anyways, wife’s cousin (botanist/gardener something) is from Hawai’i and he created the best pineapple I have ever had. I have never met its equal. This thing was almost white!

Just to add.....I kinda think it's funny how this is a cultural flash point for so many. I know it is all in good fun, but some people are sooo passionate about the subject of NO PINEAPPLE on pizza.

(The fact that I lobby so hard in the paint for no-bean chili, is not lost on me. )

Well mister, I will put black beans in my chili and you can put pineapple on your pizza and sausage too (not my thing either) and we will still be pals.

One of the best pizzas I've ever eaten was at The No Name Pub on No Name Key near Big Pine Key 30 miles out of Key West in Florida. That was 1992 and I can still taste that pizza! It was the first time I'd ever heard of pineapple on a pizza.

I love all other sorts of pizza, and I don't go out of my way to specifically order pineapple, but when the planets align in just the right way...

Methinks a place like that probably does it right, with *properly ripe* pineapple like someone mentioned above, and other things tailored perfectly to the whole recipe. Surely that's far different than the avg local pizza joint's adding pineapple to a pizza.

I have a lot of family in the Keys, they've been there a very long time, having come over from the Bahamas in the early 1800s. You may have noticed memorials to the victims of the 1935 hurricane, in which my family alone lost 50 family members.

Anyway, every time I go down that way I am sure to hit up The No Name Pub. It's a great place, even after all these years, and I've been going there since I can remember. IIRC, my granddad said that it opened not too long after the 1935 hurricane.

Our go-to pizza is pepperoni, pineapple, jalapeño - or meat, sweet, and heat as some friends call it. My wife and I have been having that for 15+ years.

This past summer I had a pizza with hot honey. Never thought of it, and it honestly caught me off guard. But drizzle it on a pepperoni and jalapeño pizza and it’s just enough sweet that I don’t miss the pineapple.

Also, that ham stuff is for the birds.

Santamarina I keep seeing the whole hot honey thing, but have yet to try it….. maybe I will start with wings. Ooohhh…. Chicken and waffles……. Ok, hot honey, I see you!

This Chicago girl is gonna be hard pressed to “adulterate her pizza”.

I agree, pepperoni and pineapple is a way better combo than Canadian bacon and pineapple. You need some spice with that sweet!

Dang, a hunnert bucks to ruin a perfectly good pizza? I guess that's one more reason we kicked the English out of the USA.
