Non-Tomato Pizza Sauce - You'll Never Believe This
As I had mentioned over in another thread, my wife started having stomach problems about 4 months ago which seemed to correalate to tomato based sauces.
Needless to say, this seemed to knock her out of having pizza, lasagna or spaghetti.
Last night, she made a pizza using (wait for it) - Cream of Chicken soup!!
And... it was excellent!!
I would never had believed this if I hadn't tasted it myself.

Good post Smoker_Boy. I've added some pretty odd things to pizza in lieu of tomato sauce. BBQ Sauce, Ranch Dressing, Olive Oil, Fig Jam, Vidalia Onion Salad Dressing, etc.
I can certainly see this.....it is not that far off from alfredo sauce, which is often used on pizza. A nice departure from the acidity of a tomato-based sauce, too.
I think the acidity in both tomato sauce and vinegar is causing her problems.
She made some chicken salad (in which she uses some mustard) and it seemed to be good with her.
But as far as using a bunch of vinegar, I don't think that would fly.

It fits, though. If you had cream of chicken soup, would you dip fresh baked pizza dough into it, like you would bread, or ouster crackers? Of course you would! So it follows that she could engineer a way to make it into pizza!
I have the same thing with Mary Joan, she can’t eat tomatoes any more (or onions, or a lot of other things she loves). I’ve worked out some primavera things that I can make, then split into two pots and add tomatoes and onions to some and leave the other. It works out.
Mosca and Smoker_Boy That’s the way my ulcerative colitis started out. For years my list of things I enjoyed but couldn’t have kept growing until it finally revealed its self. Y’all talk about getting them checked please. They could be missing a chance to get a whole lot better. Be specific, tell them you want to be checked for an auto immune problem or you’ll get the same old diagnosis as they hand out daily to people who need an anti acid.
Don’t sleep on pesto thinned with a bit of olive oil or the oil left over from roasting garlic. Or get real crazy and cut the pesto with the garlic oil.
I’m just curious, if the acid is the issue, have you tried the yellow tomatoes? My neighbor claims them to be “less acidic” than regular Roma, better boys or other red varieties. I have no way of testing that claim but can attest to a homemade sauce I made with them and it went great with some local Italian sausage and pasta.
It is cool that you found an alternative that works for y’all though.
