    Technique question: Pork and rice

I'm making some rice to go with my indoor ribs.

I took the skirts from the ribs, cut them into bits, and fried them up in a skillet with some rub, and they are really good. So, I'm going to cook them in with the rice.

Should I boil them in with the rice, or should I cook the rice first, then mix the pork in?

The rice will be cooked in chicken broth, with broccoli and onion.

    Cook first then mix in.

I agree. You could also turn them into pork fried rice, even if you're not doing an Asian style meal.

Given that you're already adding flavor to the rice, adding the pork later will make it pop a bit. And the pork fried rice idea may be even better!

Thanks, that's what I thought, too. That's not a technique I'm not real familiar with, glad I asked!

There is a plethora of recipes for fried rice on the web. Find one you like or make up your own after you check a few of them out. One caveat, most call for egg.

Here's another "I agree". Since it's just the two of us, there's always leftovers even after a couple of rib meals. I debone however many ribs are left and freeze the meat in 4 oz. batches specifically for future fried rice purposes.

If you really want to get fancy, you could make pork biryani rice.
