    Thinking about Thanksgiving

It's a bit early but I thought I would get things going.

1st for us it will be different. My son and his family who reside in Northern Vermont will not be coming down. With a 7, 5 Y.O. and a 5 month old, the risk is not worth it. So that is a dissapointment. I can't remember the last time we have not been together for this holiday, oh yea never. This is a 1st. My daughter and her crew live 1/2 mile away will be here They come regularly for dinner. Here this past weekend for a BBR ribfest. My wife already got her ox tails. Seems like they're not readily available so you have to plan ahead. Over the next couple of weeks she will go into preparation mode. I know I've mentioned this before, this is her cook. I stay out of the way.
Love to hear from all on what is staying the same and what is not. And of course what's cookin'. I think for some it will be different. For others no change. And that's a good thing. I suspect between now and through the holidays, it will be like no other. Let's hope it's a one off.
So let me the 1st to say HAPPY THANKSGIVING.

PS; so now I go sit down turn on the TV and watch my limping Patriots. Have not said that since the mid 90's.

We are just short of a full lockdown again with the current "order" being no gatherings other than your current household. So my sister is trying to coordinate a Zoom family "dinner". So with that I'll probably smoke a couple turkey pieces instead of a full bird.

My folks are older and in the demographic that could potentially be drastically affected by this pandemic so I’m stepping up to host for the siblings. We’re going low key for the year, so as of right now we’re gonna do a chicken and sausage gumbo to shake things up. After all, it’s 2020, so why not?

Having gone thru Canadian Thanksgiving last month it was a dud of a holiday here.
They encouraged only household members or no more than 10 people could attend any event.
Like anybody paid attention to that!!!!
We played ball, only my son, daughter in law and grand daughter came to our house.
My bother and his family of six stayed home and had my mother over for dinner.
Other families did as they wanted and then 12-14 days later plague totals surged again and they shut most things down again.
Stop the world I wanna get off....

Our family is hunkering in the basement so we're celebrating with friends.

We have cancelled all our usual things. This year it will be just wife and me. Menu still undecided. Bummer. Not really a holiday at all.

My nephew is hosting or traditional Thanksgiving dinner. My niece and her husband are coming in from Ohio for it. We are opting out this year. I will be roasting a turkey, making stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy. Barbara's mother, who lives around the corner will confer for dinner. Her daughter and boyfriend might drop by. I won't be seeing my daughter or granddaughter. May be video call. My nephew has talked about doing a zoom dinner.

Our crowd will also be down quite a bit. Only 2 of our Daughters will be here. One is single the other married with 4 children. I will make a turkey on the PBC and with have most of the usual traditional sides. It will definitely be scaled down and different. Stay safe everyone!

Ya, this year really sucks! We may have 1 or 2 of the kids over. Maybe. Ordered the turkey in hopes things would open up so I will still cook it. Vacuum seal then freeze some and give some away

Last year we hosted our normal ~30 family and friends. This year it will be the 3 of us, my parents, and 1 aunt. We're not sure how to cook that small...

Going to be a normal Thanksgiving Day this year.
In fact we will have a larger crowd than usual.
                        Menu will be VERY scattered.
Gramper wants corn dogs and home made oyster dressing. Can't talk him out of it so there you go. Corn dogs on the Thanksgiving Boofet.
Daughter wants Clam Chowder. Thanks to Instant Pot this is a quick done the night before and better the next day kind of deal.
Son wants a traditional turkey. He is now hooked on free range like we did last year!
Grand daughter wants Sloppy Joes.(ONLY Grandmas Sloppy Joes will work! No buns-dipped in Fritos Scoops)
SIL wants a high temp steak off the BGE. BIL thinks he's a Vegan so he's left to his own devices because I DON'T VEGAN!
                        Nephews family is craving Wibs.
Thank gawd the Nephew is going to do the ribs in his Hand Made Pizza oven? Helped him build it 10 years ago, and it is just nothing but BAD A** to cook in.
Neighbors have an open invite, and looks like there will be sides out the yingyang!
Looks like the BGE, PG500, Good One, and PK will be busy boys.
I will be hosting on my own property so no restrictions except common sense, and manners.
