I only put this here because it may assist in members getting together/meating up, in their own areas. I see that there is a 'Members List' page available to us for looking up people that are members of the forum. That's a neat idea, but I was wondering if there was a way to subscribe to an RSS feed of that type of information. No, I am in no way trying to gather email addresses nor stalk anyone, I was hoping that I could get just the user name and their location (if defined). I'd like to write a little google maps-like plug-in that would allow you to see, only by town, city, region, where we are on the map. It would function very similarly to the 'find food around me' functionality that gives a general number as you zoom out, and gets more granular as you zoom in. If you'd rather not have someone like me do this, totally okay, maybe a feature request instead??
One application of this that just came to mind. Say you need to travel, in this case for a funeral. You are out of town, already spent a ton of money to get there, and the entire family is expected to roll in. Being able to see who may be close by, that may be interested/available to lend a hand, reduce the burden, etc. would be kind of cool. One could look at the map, drill down to an area near by, and reach out to those in that area. If I knew I could spend $100 on pork butt/brisket from a local Costco, and feed 30 ppl, instead of paying $600, well, I think that could be a 'win'. Of course, no one is obligated, but I think many of us would use just about any excuse to roll out the smoker and get cooking. I think of it like a localized, volunteer, mini-OBR type thing. I don't know, just thoughts...
