    Desert Island Dilema!

So, you are being marooned on a desert island by the crew of the good ship Amazing Ribs, for insisting that integrated dial thermometers do a perfectly satisfactory job of monitoring cooking temperatures.

But the crew remember the days before you lost your marbles, so have kindly allowed you to take one of each of the following items to give some measure of comfort to the end of your days....

One smoker of your choice + lifetime supply of fuel.
Lifetime supply of one type of meat \ meat cut.
Lifetime supply of one BBQ side.
Lifetime supply of one beer or whiskey.
One supplemental BBQ tool \ gadget \ luxury

So what do you take, give us your choices!

    Me......

One smoker of your choice - Pro Q Elite Bullet Smoker
Lifetime supply of one type of meat \ meat cut - Gotta be a brisket I think (versatile).
Lifetime supply of one BBQ side. - Chinese cucumber salad (been eating it for 20 years and not sick of it yet!)
Lifetime supply of one beer or whiskey. - Brewdog Punk IPA.
One supplemental BBQ tool \ gadget \ luxury - Solar Powered Beer Cooler.

My island will have wild hogs and deer. 22 kettle with slow 'n sear. Crossbow. Water purifier. Wild chickens will allow me to make deviled eggs.

Deviled eggs! You might be marooned, but who says you can't be marooned in style!

For versatility I think I would go with the Engelbrecht Gen IV 1000 Series Original Braten Grill with the rotisserie and some pecan wood.
I'll say whole hog. I may have to do some butchering myself but gives me lots of meat to play with.
Don't have one go to side, but corn on the cob sounds good.
Margarita's will flow on my island.
For my accessory, give me a Thermapen though that contradicts the original premise of why I'm getting abandoned. Maybe some bear claws if the first is unacceptable.

I like bear claws, double as a weapon in the event of unfriendly natives!

They cook it at competitions so I thought I might get away with it. If I can't sneak whole hog, I would probably change course and go for beef, probably brisket. Then I would ask for a meat grinder so at least I could make hamburger meat and maybe even sausage with it. Versatility still remains the goal.

    I'm a simple man...

Coin toss between Kettle or PBC. Probably Kettle.
    KBB.
    Live hogs.
    Collard greens.
    Pappy.
Cast net. (It's a BBQ accessory in this scenario, OK?!)

BourBonQ I once paid $50 for an ounce just to see what all the hubbub was about. Though I thought it was really good, I have to admit the price just sticks in my craw and prevents me from enjoying it. I've never heard of Weller Antique. I'll look for it.

HouseHomey picky, picky! Well in that case, I'mma hafta go with whole beef rib roast.

sos2979 and BourBonQ you may want to switch your accessory over to a knife if you are thinking of dealing with the whole hogs...

One smoker of your choice + lifetime supply of fuel: offset, with a charcoal grate below the meat grate to function as hybrid smoker/grill.

Lifetime supply of one type of meat: meat cut: definitely whole hog, as others have said.

Lifetime supply of one BBQ side: mac n' cheese, Meathead recipe.

Lifetime supply of one beer or whiskey: beer, Delirium Tremens.

One supplemental BBQ tool \ gadget \ luxury: a great knife, or a Thermapen if I can fashion a knife out of a rock!

HouseHomey if it has to be a cut, then I’m switching to beef, specifically brisket!

Yep, me too! A cooker with a lifetime supply of fuel doesn't exactly leave one in the catbird seat, does it? LOL

That’s why I thought yes. Cuz what good is a cooker with fuel if’n ya got nuthin to cook. I’ll take a lifetime of meat if I have a cooker & lots & lots of fuel.

      #13
HouseHomey you are correct! These aren't cuts, give them an inch and they take a mile!

EdF now that would be cruel and unusal punishment.. allowed a smoker but no fuel or meat for it, or beer to wash it down!
