One of the first web sites I visited when I became serious about BBQ was the BBQ PitBoys. When I watched them do low and slow cooking they would often pour a bottle or two of beer into the roasting pan. Strange I thought, to me beer was for drinking not cooking with! Then I got a Smokenator and they advised putting fluid other than water in their container, although to be fair they also stated that water was good also.
My query is, has anyone ever noticed any difference in flavour of the cooked item using anything other than water?
Darn it Meathead I have read it in your book as well!! Obviously I am drinking too much of the good stuff. My home website of http://www.crediton-inn.co.uk shows you the beers I am drinking at the moment!

I'm glad you said that Meathead. I've got a 5 gallon water pan. On both sides. Glad I don't have to fill it up.(I'll just drink it instead and say that's what is in thar).
Scotch: Current favorite- The Arran (anything by them), Glenmorangie 12yr Lasanta, sherry cask finished. The Balvenie Double Wood, also like Oban 18yr, and The Glenlivet Nadurra (Oloroso sherry cask finished) among others. Neat please.
