I almost bought a salmonella product!

Well, this is certainly in the yikes department.

HEB is known for their Meal Simple products. These are pre-made (but not cooked) meals in a tray designed to be thrown in the oven, cooked 350-400 F for 20-24 minutes and they're done. They are really good, albeit quite expensive now. (My favorite, their crab-stuffed salmon & broccoli, is $9...used to be $5.)

HEB recently rolled out their Higher Harvest versions. These are extremely high-protein versions of Meal Simple, often having 30+g of protein. Their meat portions tend to be more than the standard Meal Simple products, which is kinda cool.

I was perusing these about a week ago and saw a Creamy Cilantro Chicken one that looked really good, but I passed as, as I said, they are quite expensive.

I'm sure we've all seen the news that Taylor Farms now has a second recall, this time over salmonella involved in jalapeños and HEB stocks some products made with that ingredient from Taylor Farms. I was looking over the HEB recall list which was released Saturday and to my uncomfortable shock, the Higher Harvest Creamy Cilantro Chicken in the right date range was recalled due to salmonella risk!

Yay for past me on being financially responsible.

I had to return Kroger Organic eggs that were not the questionable date number BUT it was on the recall list per my latest Kroger receipt. Being a member of both Kroger and Costco, they both informed me of past purchases that were recalled. Yes, Big Brother watching my purchases but this time I'm glad they did.

I got this email from WalMart this morning. I had already eaten half the container. I dodged the bullet. Had to be due to the cilantro.

Funny you mention that, I was looking at the bag of Dorito's that I bought here a few weeks ago this morning and thinking I am going to make my taco salad now. I love that stuff. My nephew makes a very good one and he sent his recipe to me a couple of years ago and I enjoy putting it together and eating it for a few days. You get so much

I just got back from HEB. As I was putting the groceries away I noticed the brand of the arugula I bought.
