Grew up on spam and eggs….. where the edges of the spam were crunchy….. dipping into a runny OE egg……snoopy bread, lightly toasted (butternut brand bread).
I'm a Spam fan. I don't eat it often, but I do like it once in a while. Usually I just slice it, fry it and put it on a sammich of white bread with mayo, mustard and American cheese. Not sure I can think of any other way to eat it. lol
Great idea!
Unfortunately, I didn't have any Spam in the house. So, I had to substitute Oscar Meyer Salami, probably close to being a generic equivalent.
My wife and I grilled some Spam one evening, and she thought it would be tasty with some of those crispy breaded shrimp on top. Little mayo, Spam, and fried shrimp. Surf and turf baby!
My wife makes a decadent spam salad. Spam with macaroni noodles, peas, onions, cubed cheese and Miracle Whip. Add your favorite spices and enjoy...and then maybe take a walk.
Eff the Miracle Whip but otherwise, might be decent. Kind of a pasta salad with some Spam in it. I could try it. Matter of fact... we usually do pasta salad with peas & carrots (canned) and cubed cheese. I could add Spam cubes, too. Not bad.
At one point I was trying to find a kosher equivalent to Spam for some recipe or another (I don't keep kosher, but my partner does, and we keep a kosher kitchen)...turns out the closest thing was a canned meat product called Loof that the IDF fed to soldiers for years, but it was (a) terrible, and (b) discontinued in 2011.
One of my professional expertises is email security. For the longest time I had a stack of spam cans behind me for when I was in a Zoom meeting. I always enjoyed seeing other participants eyes widen when they got the joke.
(I no longer have them there because....well, I ate them.)
